ya'llllll!!!!! i do not know what to do with my hair!!! :nono:

i'm almost bsl - .5 inch away - and i pressed my hair the other day to change it up. i have not been pressed since last summer and even then i only wore it for a few days.

i can rock tons of natural hairstyles, but am COMPLETELY LOST when it comes to styling this straight stuff. :wallbash:

help! what styles are straight haired girls wearing these days?

what do you naturals do when you press your hair? how do you style it? just big bouncy curls???? my "bangs" come down to my collar bone so my hair is all long.

i want to wear my hair straight for a couple of weeks so i need something good. i'm going to ulta to pick up some loc and block tomorrow cause if you look at my head too hard it.will.revert. :lachen:

i feel like i should know how to style my hair, but i feel detached from the straight hair world.

any suggestions? or pictures? thanks ladies!

I've bantu knotted my entire head for big waves and created a braid at each temple and pulled them back and pinned together. Kinda helps to keep my hair out of my face, but still looks stylish.

When I'm wearing my hair straight most of the time I'll pin curl before bed pull em off in the mornings and it leaves me with nice soft curls....on the rare occasion that my hair reverted one day I'll bantu knot it for the night and end up with soft loose waves the next day:yep:

I know the feeling. I did this last March and could not believe how out of practice I was.

I did a lot of different pin up styles, then braid outs. The more it started to shrink the more pin up styles I did until I finally washed it.

I realized then that my straight styles constantly involved some type of roller, curling iron or something and I was not going to go that route so I hairpins became my new best friend then.

Needless to say I have not done straight since. That was the only time in my healthy hair journey I had my hair straighten.

Do you guys use anything to 'set' your curls when roller setting after straightened? I have been using castor oil, but i'm concerned about build-up and it weighing my hair down a bit too much.

Anything too 'wet' will make my hair revert, ya know?

I never use anything water based (defies common sense) and if I do add anythin its only a tiny bit of product for each section....I'm never heavyhanded with the product after my hair has already been pressed.

Do you ever go to the hair salon? I'm natural and I do not know WHAT to do with my hair:wallbash: I am so tempted to perm again... But I am trying to learn what my hair likes:spinning:

When natural and wearing a straight style, I don't recommend use of products to set. For me, that would weigh my hair down. I think your hair best sets when it is freshly straightened. For some reason, curls form easier then and you can easily maintain your curls by resetting every night or pin curling as BMP suggested.

I usually wrap my hair the first few nights, and as my hair begins to swell I like to add voluminous curls. My pin curls do not come out right, for some reason.

When I used a liquid product, it was Aphogee Green Tea Keratin leave-in, lightly spritzed on my ends. It worked well, but ofcourse you can't use it too often.

And, uh, BMP, naturals, water and straight hair don't mix...it is most definitely, Natural Hair 101.

You can try pincurling by a roller to hold the form, sliding it out and pinning it down flat . My come out better that way than just using my fingers like some do..

I must be the most boring person when it comes to straight hair because when my hair is straight, if I don't wear it in a pony tail, I wear it in updos. It's no wonder I get bored with it real quick:

I think Oprah does a good job with her straight hair. Do any of her styles tickle your fancy?
