Well there is a positive and a negative for me. As you can see from my siggy it still looks like my hair is short, very very very short!:lachen:

I am hoping when my hair WITH SHRINAKGE reaches BSL, I will be able to determine if I thought having long hair is all it would be.

I guess on the positive side I can still sport short looks for now and longer when I stretch it.

Well that is sort of kinda of a positive.

i dont know if im considered long haired yet, im still far from my goal, but so far i love it. its easy to style, easy to maintain.

im really hoping for waist length unstretched. there are a couple ppl in my family who have that length, an they say its very easy to care of. not much different from maintance at my length.

my hair is only APL, but i'm enjoying my hair as it grows longer... so far, so good.

*great job on the trim Bubblingbrownshuga!!! i still envy your hair every day ya know... :notworthy

I guess I would have to answer yes! I just knew there had to be more to my hair then getting relaxer touch-ups every couple of months. So when I decided to go natural; I had a ...let's see what's really coming out of my scalp; whether it be good, bad or ugly, I'm going to love it and learn how to manage it attitude. I expected that it would take a lot of TLC to keep it healthy and grow it out; and sure enough it does!!! My hair needs lots of TLC to stay healthy, growing and on my head. :spinning:

hold up!
when did u get a new sn?????

I'm a "short" natural so I have nothing to add to this thread:look:

Your hair is beautiful Bubbling :yep:. I'm not at my goal, but I guess my hair is considered long. I love that I can get length without the tradeoff of needing a touch-up. So for me, there aren't really any negatives, especially since I don't do anything to my hair that requires much work. I can't wait until I'm atleast hip length.

BBS, Your hair is beautiful and you did a nice job on your trim.

I don't have anything to add, I just wanted to come in this thread and see all of the long hair naturals...very inspirational! My hair is natural but it is nowhere near long.

Pinkskates, Mscocoface, Silvergirl, & Sar-1, you guys are looking good with all of that long natural hair!:yep:

I dont know if you would consider my hair long yet. I was at APL when I last flat iwroned (notice the spelling! :lachen:) back in March. I have to say I love it still. Sometimes I wish I could wear it short for a week or so so I can sport a TWA but I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too.

Why you do that?:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

This is a good question because before I went natural, most of my thoughts seemed to center around how I would look with shorter hair since I big chopped my APL relaxed hair to a 1.5 inch TWA.

But when it reached a point where I could wear longer/fuller styles, I was a little more excited about being natural.

I can't really think of any regrets that I have since going natural-maybe only that I wish I would have done it sooner :yep: I didn't really think that natural hair would be "more work"...just that I would have to take a different approach towards dealing with my hair and not try to treat it and make it do things that relaxed hair would do.

Nothing to add because there is no difference for me. But I must say all of you naturals in this very thread are the reason why I am keeping with my decision to remain natural. Absolutely beautiful:grin:

This is where I'm trying to be. I also wish I would have went natural sooner.

Well my hair is shoulder length when straightened and I can already see that detangeling is going to be a problem...:wallbash:

It is the best thing that ever happened to me .. after jesus, and my family! l.o.l
no, but really i love being natural it is much easier and healthier for me. when i made the decision to do it everyone was laughing and saying it can't be done. but i couldn't watch one more strand rinse down the drain! now they ask me what are you putting in your hair? what did you use to grow it? l.o.l

was having long, natural hair just about all you thought it would be or not?

I had no idea what I was going to end up with when I started this natural hair journey(last relaxer Mar 2003). Let's just say I have been pleasantly suprised with the results. Like a few of the other ladies have said, I wish I quit relaxers a long time before I actually did. I love the versatility I have with natural hair:yay: I do come across a few humps, but its heaven compared to when I had a relaxer. With natural it takes very little for me to have a good hair day, with no help from a stylist.:yay:

I met a girl with your goal length this weekend. Her hair was waistlength unstretched...I was drooling over her hair the whole day (in my mind of course:lick:)

I totally identify with the bolded...except my last whole-head relaxer was in August '03. I was relaxing my hairline (in front) to blend w/weaves up until March '06. Now, it's all grown out and/or cut off; so no more relaxed hair anywhere on my head...I'm 100% natural.

I definitely expected my hair to be a lot more difficult to manage...But it's not nearly as rough as I thought it would be. The shrinkage doesn't really bother me either. One thing I didn't see coming were those single strand knots.:wallbash: But that's probably the only draw back...which won't be much of an issue once I get my deep trim and start straightening on the regular.

I dunno, I've always took pride in the appearance of my hair...But it's a totally different experience to be proud of how healthy it is too...I care more about my hair's health than I ever have...even above how it looks!

My hair is definitely thanking me for it.;)

I don't know if APL is considered long, but I'm actually loving it more and more the longer it gets. It's like a new challenge, trying to keep those ends! But I just notice how much I can do with my hair and how long it looks even when I wear it up.

There's no change for me because I've always been natural, but having long hair is extremely gratifying to me and the better I treat it the easier it is to maintain.

Not a long-haired natural but I did want to say that all of you ladies have gorgeous hair and one day I will let mine grow longer too instead of cutting it every 3-4 months.

wow you all are seriously inspiring me....I'm going 3 months strong with my natural hair now and I've seen quite a bit of growth. From my big chop in July to now...I'm not sure how many inches it has grown but now I can pull my hair back in one (when wet or damp) and when I stretch it is just past my neck almost!!.....I hope one day I can post in a thread like that, showing my natural long hair
