I'm a solid 4b and comb often. About once a week. I actually use the wet brush. I'll have to many issues with my hair if i don't. I try be good and keep my hair in twists for a couple weeks to avoid the manipulation though. My hair retains better when I do that. I'm BSLish.

I comb on wash day only which is once a week or once every two weeks. I finger detangle / comb to remove shed hair as needed.

@honeybee, when I had relaxed hair, my raised cuticles made my hair act like velcro. Although my transition is not yet, my natural hair doesn't seem to be nearly as high maintenance.

I'm 4c but my hairs not long...yet

Can I ask you guys what styles you're wearing most of the time? I went to a stylist and she think twistouts are too much manipulation and bad for length retention. I must say when I got a rod set I didn't lose as much hair.
I wear my hair straight or in plaits under a wig.
