DTW I use profectiv's growth lotion in the bottle. I love this stuff. I also use their breakfree in the jar.

Back OT: Hello Hydration
and Garnier 3 minute mask treatment

Oh Lawd Pantene's clarifying poo. Left my hair dry AND hard.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil. Left my hair dry, hard, AND sticky with loads of breakage. A mess.

Too much coconut oil leaves my hair crunchy.

Cowashing. Just doesn't work for me AT ALL.

Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair - made my damaged hair 1000 times worse, plus it tangled it up like nobody's business!

Elasta QP Mango Butter - smells great, hair feels moist for about 2 minutes, then it's dry and crunchy

Pink Oil Moisturizer - we already know what's up with this one

Hairspray - any kind

LOL @ DTWgrl for bumping this old thread!

Since creating this thread, I have found that olive oil by itself leaves my hair dry and crunchy.

I used it up to wash my scarf. I I kid you not, if even left my silk scarf kind of stiff.

That stuff left my hair so dried and tangled I am scared to clarify now. I haven't clarified in about 3 mos because of it. I usually LOVE clarifying.:(

what do yall recommend for long lasting moisture then? I have been using the bb moisturizer before I wrap my hair up at night. I cant tell if it is drying or if its just because my hair drinks it all up and then the air hits it?

I would search the boards. It's about 3 good LONG threads about "favorite moisturizers" and "what moisturizer do you use."

They have excellent suggestions.

I cannot say that specific products leave my hair dry but too much protein leaves my hair dry as bone. I have to slather Kera Care jojoba oil moisturizer on my hair after too much protein.

I'm sad because when I was natural, I used Pantene R&N religiously. Gave my hair such shine, strength and moisture, particularly the conditioner. Now, as a relaxed head, I can't use ANY Pantene products.:(

Others:

S-Curl (World of Curls works miles better on taming new growth and for controlling fly aways without dryness)
Infusium 23 Leave-In jacked my ish up!:(
Lacio Lacio Leave-In (very disappointed):ohwell:
Silcon Mix Leave-In (I love the deep conditioner, but the leave-in leaves much to be desired)
Salerm 21 Leave-In (very disappointed after so much rave about this)
Canta Shea Butter Moisturizer (sticky just like Pink Oil Moisturizer)

Very surprised to see Elasta QP Mango Butter on many people's list. I sometimes use this for my baggy treatments, but I'll keep an eye on how things go.

Tresemme Conditioners (unless mixed with castor oil)
Phyto 9 (I still don't know what this is supposed to do)
Sebastian Potion 9 (really slimy upon application, leaves my hair dry and tangled)
Pink Oil (as almost everyone has mentioned :))
ElastaQP Mango Butter

I'm sure there are many more...I just can't think of them right now :)

Gee, I wonder if there could be tally of all the dry hair culprits and do research to see if they all contain the same ingredients that cause dryness. Perhaps that will help others when choosing products to stay away from those culprits that consistently end up on these lists.

Anything that has the words Pink or "Oil" in an All-N-One package.
Mane-N-Tail Shampoo and Conditioner
ORS Hairdressing... basically all except the big olive oil one.
Aveda!!!!! Sap Moss poo/dish
Kids Organics Protein And Vitamin Remedy=> I think it supposed to go only on the scalp as a growth aid.

Elasta Qp Mango Butter. I really wanted it to work for me because it smells sooooo good, but it left my hair drier than hay. :perplexed

-Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Treatment. I originally raved about it in the April Hit and Misses thread. My hair felt good while it was wet. However, it was a completely different story when my hair dried. That stuff is the worst!
-Giovanni Direct Leave In-My hair felt like straw once it dried. I'm sticking with my Salerm 21 and Lacio Lacio!

Nexxus Products for me as well. :ohwell: It is such a shame, I'm going to give them away in the "give away" forum.

silicon mix leave in

NTM Daily Conditioner, NTM mask and NTM silk touch

nexxus humectress, nexxus headress, nexxus therapee, nexxus botonoil shampoo

dang @ destiny lol. do you guys think that relaxed hair and natural hair require different types of moisturizers? or is it the hair type that makes it vary?

Yes... naturals apparently cannot use mineral oil, petroleum or cones. We established that here a looong time ago.

Pantene products
garnier sleek n shine serum
garnier sleek n shine shampoo
pink oil (EWWW)
silk elements revive shampoo (worst shampoo I have ever used in my life). It did nothing.
Herbal essence shampoos.

That's not necessarily true. There are many relaxed heads here who don't use them either. And there are products that both natural and relaxed heads use with no problem. I still use the same products I used when I was relaxed. It's more an individual thing as to what your particular hair likes vs relaxed or natural and hair type.

Anything greasy - Pink Oil :barf:

Also EQP Feels Like Silk, NTM Silk Touch Leave In, The new Palmer's Olive Oil stuff... My hair also didn't like the LeKair Shea Mango Cholesterol. But The Lustrasilk Shea works great for me. Oh yeah the EQP Mango Butter doesn't work as good anymore. I just use it to slick my hair back but not as a moisturizer.
