List of Protective styles

Can yall please list the protective style for all ranges of hair SL- BSL and less breakage recommend a good ponytail holder for phony pony etc...

I'm a newbie, but I've been doing the UPA Pony because my hair is short. I love this protective style because I can workout in it and not worry about it flying off my head! Its so comfortable that I forget I'm wearing it! My ends stay moisturized and safely tucked away for the day.

Braidout's
Twistouts
French rolls and twists
Braids
anything curly that keeps your hair off your neck like rollersets as long as they aren't brushing on your clothing.

French rolls

Phony ponies worn with baggies to protect your hair from rubbing against the inside of the phony pony.

If you hair has nice curls or waves from your braid outs, twist outs, etc you can loosely pin them up. I've never been able to create the same style consistently so this can vary from day to day.

good list crlsweetie. For me it's that bun bun bun. lol I really like braid out in a high ponytail. (to keep the hair off my neck and rubbing anything.)

Love your new pic crlsweetie. The dress and hair is so pretty!

Awww.... Thanks Letitia!

Agreed. According to Wanakee she said that the ends are never exposed to the air at all.

In my opinion, a protective style is concealing the ends.

What is a UPA clip, for those of us that are style challenged. Also, how much hair do you need in order to use it. I have neck length hair all around. I can put my hair in a pony tail. I mean, it's not something I like to brag about, but I can squeeze one together. Do you think the clip would work for me?

There is a thread about the UPA clip around here. I will bump it for you.

I am wearing a UPA clip in my avator. It is so easy to use you would love it and you can wear it with your hair lengh.

sistaslick does a cute chinese bun. maybe you can pm her for a pic. i always thought a bun to the side with a flower or without was cute. and up do's are cute also. i wish i was at the length where i could do protective styles.:ohwell:

what type of ponytail holder is easy on the hair that wont cause alot of breakage

the ouchless one's without the silver clip.

for updos, sally's have ouchless bobbypins. they're also great for rolling setting and DON'T get stuck in or pull out your hair!!!

I agree w/the others who define protective styles as those concealing your ends. Thus, I don't personally consider braidouts, twistouts and bantu knot styles (unless the knots are left in) as protective. For short hair that can't be pulled up for buns or ponytails, I would do wig w/or without baggie underneath. All other lengths, I consider buns, ponytails and also the faux bob that Sisterslick used to do, as protective.
