Can someone give me some tips on what to mix this stuff in? I'm suppose to take a tablespoon a day but it makes me gag taking it straight like that! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif Please help!!

I gagged also...that's why I then picked up the soft gels. They are also more convenient. Unlike hard capsuls these dissolve easily. Try mixing the liquid in your oatmeal or yogurt...something like that.

Mixed into your yogurt it doesn't taste that bad.

When I had liquid flaxseed oil I would also add it to my protein shakes.

And you could probably also use it on a salad mixed with dressing or vinegar.

Thanks for the response ladies! Sweetcocoa I use to take the softgels but I read somewhere that it would take 14 softgels to equal one tablespoon of the liquid. My skin is very, very dry so I'm hoping that I will see faster results with the liquid! /images/graemlins/blush.gif I will post my results after I have taken it for a month.

Hmmm....I love oatmeal and yogurt so I will definitely try your suggestions. I will also try the salad dressing tip. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I hate taking this by itself. It tastes nasty. /images/graemlins/down.gif

I have mixed in orange juice, other fruit juices, yougurt, and I have even poured it over my rice/potatoes and gravy and mixed it all up. /images/graemlins/lick.gif The lady at the health food store said that as long as your meal is not that hot you can do that. Flax oil should not be heated because it will destroy its properties.

Call me weird /images/graemlins/crazy.gif, but I like the taste of flax seed oil. I take Barlean's in capsule form and I actually like to bite into them occasionally to taste the oil inside. It's not bad at all. /images/graemlins/lick.gif If yours taste bitter, that could be a sign that it's gone bad. It should have a mild, nutty taste if it's fresh.

Hey everyone says a tea spoon of flaxseed and primrose a day, can i take more than dat?!...alot more?, becuase them things don't bother me (taste wise)...i'd drink to my hearts consent /images/graemlins/smile.gif (i swear im strange)

the lady in the health food store was the one who introduced it to me. I went in there asking about what I could do to combat the dryness I was experiencing. She told me that she had the same problem and that she would take like 4-5 TABLESPOONS per day. I tried this. Sorry that it a bit too much for me. Taste wise and bathroom wise (if you get what I mean) If you can handle it, go for it. /images/graemlins/lick.gif /images/graemlins/lick.gif /images/graemlins/lick.gif

By the way the lady's hair was GORGEOUS! It looked so healthy.

To me when I take it straight I feel like I'm swallowing Crisco oil! /images/graemlins/blush.gif /images/graemlins/blush.gif I can't imagine taking more than one tablespoon per day. I use the GNC brand.

Is flaxseed oil the same as linseed oil? Just wondering because my local supermarket (1 block away) sells linseed oil and the health food store (2 miles away) sells flaxseed. Is it good for dry skin and dry hair?

I wish i could take this stuff, but it also makes me want to gag. I guess the capsules are the only alternative if pouring it in your food doesn't work. What about over salad, if you eat it then that should also work, and you don't have to worry about it being heated bythe temperature of the food.

Hey,

You might also consider taking milled flax seeds. A Health From the Sun rep told me that milled flax seeds are just as healthy as the oil--and he gave me a bag free. I have sprinkled it in pasta, couscous, rice, and on toast spread with peanut butter.

According to my bag, two tablespoons of milled flax seed contain 3 grams of Omega-3 Alpha-Linolenic Acid and 1 gram of omega-6 Linoleic Acid.

You can get the Health From the Sun brand at vitaminshoppe for $8. GNC also has a brand of milled flax seeds for about the same price.

You also can get whole flax seeds from the health food store and grind them at home yourself with one of those mini coffee grinders.
