Oh my gosh
, thank you CH!!
The trick is to wrap it up nice & tight at night. The ends are still a little bit "bushy" but they will straighten out more if I wrap it up again tonight.
All I did was use my usual leave-ins... last night I used a little bit of IC Hair Polisher (any serum will do) and some Salerm21. I just let it hang loose, combing through it with my plastic Goody afro pick now and then, as it dried. I also just take my hand and smooth it. When it's almost dry, I put in a moisturizer (like Profectiv Break-Free, which is what I'm using at the moment...) When it dries completely, it looks pretty puffy, but before bed, I take some more moisturizer, run it over the outside of my hair, then wrap my hair and tie the scarf on it really tight. The next morning, the edges are nice and straight. Like I said, it takes a couple nights of wrapping to get the ends straight, but it works great!!
By tomorrow or Friday, you won't even be able to tell the diff. between my air dried hair and a roller set!!
This is great for the summer!!

Thanks for the step by step. But to clarify...
i wash my hair, then apply a little polisher and my leave-in. Then i leave my hair out, periodically combing it with a pick. I continuously smooth my hair back as it is drying. Once my hair is about 80% dry, i add in a moisturizer - any other suggestions, i only have protective ends.
then i wait until it's fully dried, add a little more moisturizer (to the outer part of my hair), then doobie wrap it and tie my scarf on. and sleep. Sounds simple enuf, im sure i'll muck it up
my hair will look like a puffball
. I can't imagine being able to wear my hair OUT after airdrying... that's a scary thought
Last question, have u ever wrapped your hair while it was partly damp (say in the middle)? Because my hair takes a WHILEEEE to dry so i'd have to get up at 5am just to make sure that sucker is 100% dry by midnight
