Light Moisturizers for Long Hair

I am looking for a good leave-in conditioner. Can anyone recommend one that is pretty light?

I emphasize light because I use Giovanni right now, and it is great, except that it tends to leave my hair either stuck together (when used in small amounts) or hard (when used in large amounts). After a period of observation, I am convinced now that it contributes to tangles (My hair does not tangle when I use only coconut oil.). Plus it's summer and I want to sport bouncy curls; Giovanni weighs down my styles.

I emphasize that my hair is very long because I cannot afford to buy a tiny bottle for an extravagant price. It will go quickly and then I'll be left broke. So, a leave-in that comes in a large bottle for a reasonable price is important.

A silicone-free leave-in would be ideal, but I'll take recommendations of any product that anyone has found particularly moisturizing yet light.

wow!! i just dicovered coconut oil and my hair is also TANGLE FREE NOW!! its been two weeks and not one single knot!!! and for moisture i use scurl. its really good. but i dont wear rollercurls often so it might not be for you.

I'm not sure how light they'll be for your hair but have you tried HE LTR or Sunsilk(new) Hydra TLC. And because i'm not sure i was about to just suggest jojoba oil ( i know it an oil not a "moisurizer"). I've learned that my hair loves it esp. the organic jojoba.HTH.

I'm not sure how light they'll be for your hair but have you tried HE LTR or Sunsilk(new) Hydra TLC.

It's so funny that you mention this, because my first choice was Sunsilk. I bought a small bottle of it in the UK after all of my hair products were thrown away at the airport and was surprised by how much my hair likes it. My only reservation is that the second ingredient is silicone and it just gets worse from there as far as silicone goes. I created this thread to find alternatives, but Sunsilk is definitely still in contention.

And because i'm not sure i was about to just suggest jojoba oil ( i know it an oil not a "moisurizer"). I've learned that my hair loves it esp. the organic jojoba.HTH.

My hair loves oil too. Unfortunately, my skin does not, so I can use oil only close to my scalp or on the length only when I am wearing an updo. I need something else for the length of my hair, if I am to wear it down.

The strong chemical smell and the slightly dry way it leaves my hair feeling are not for me. Coconut oil is really great though, isn't it?

I keep tryna tell ya'll bout that Crece Pelo leave-in!....it comes in a small bottle...but its only like $3-$4...really light too!

Have you tried grapeseed oil? It's very light and is great for skin, even the face. I don't use any type of commercial moisturizers because a very light coating of grapeseed oil seems to work the best for me.

I like the consistency of it; I don't want a drippy mess a la S-curl. Plus, the sticky effect is undiminished even when I add it to dripping wet hair, so I doubt diluting it would make much of a difference unless I added enough water to compromise its moisturizing ability, which defeats the point of moisturizing.
