Let's get this straight, ladies.

I'm so sorry, but I am tired of hearing/seeing people say this.

YOUR HAIR DOES NOT GROW AFTER YOU'RE DEAD!

Ok?

Just think about it. You're DEAD. All of the cells in your body are dead. Your brain is dead, your body can't perform ANY function. Your heart can't pump any blood to any cell of your body, including hair making cells. These cells don't receive any OXYGEN or ENERGY anymore, it is impossible for them to be active. They are dead.

To those of you who saw Kill Bill 2, the hair is now like the goldfish. :ohwell:

It's an old wives tale!

Just to those who didn't know... because honestly, if I saw someone in real life say that, especially a GROWN person, I'd have to wonder about them :perplexed

I'm not trying to say I'm so much smarter than anyone else, but c'mon now!

Please check out these links:

"As far as the growth after death, it is a myth; the appearance of growth is actually caused by the retraction of skin as the surrounding tissue dehydrates, making nails and hair more prominent."

:giggle: Folks still gonna challenge you.

They firmly believe they will have WL hair in life no matter what AND have Ankle length hair in the casket.

you scared me for a minute i thought someone had said something bad to you on this board. you are right. elementary my dear.

I'm so glad to see you post this because that's always been my question: how would the hair be getting the nourishment necessary for growth when everything is dead? But I was always too lazy to do my own research to confirm what I suspected was a myth. :giggle:

No... I'm not mad at anyone. I just wanted to do my part to straighten this issue out. Especially on here where the average member could write a book about hair.

LOL. I just posted the same thing in a thread recently.

It's hilarious that folks believe that their hair will grow after they die but a black woman can't have long hair while she's still alive.

:lachen::lachen: I never even thought of that. How true!

LOL, I've seen you say this in so many posts, it's not even funny. I've heard this debunked some many times in other places, I'm surprised there are still people who believe this. But to each his own.

Lolz yea I peeped that post today also.

I don't understand how people can believe this myth.... it is just.not.logical.

So when a body is decomposing or has become skeletonized they are still growing hair? I mean c'mon.

what people are worrying about their hair length and growth when they in the ground

wowwowowowowow

now I done heard it all :lachen:

lol. It just bothered me because I don't understand how someone could really believe such a thing. It set me off. I've heard this in real life too :perplexed

It's not even about the hair for me, it's more along the lines of do people not get the concept of death?

Wow... didn't know people really thought that... I've seen on a few crime shows answers similar to OP post about the reasons people would think that though... Where is the post that led to this i'd love to see it =)

Exactly. I just saw the same thing posted last night by someone who is a lawyer. I mean, you passed the bar exam but you still don't understand how death works? :spinning:

LOL The bar does NOT have the laws of mortuary as exam material...or does it?:look:

Just cause someone has a Phd in Business doesn't mean they know everything. That just means they have more knowledge in THAT particular field. Not others.

There's folks who have a Master's degree in math but can't program their DVR to save their life..

I know I know. There are a lot of simple/obvious things I'm sure I don't know :yep:. I'm just amazed sometimes.
