I had my hair done at November 2010 and my last perm was in 2004.

My hair is gone!! This one bandwagon I wish I had never heard of.
I am going to have to cut it down and start over again.

So sorry OP. What went wrong?

What happened? Have you been bkt-ing since 2004? Could you share your story b/c the pics don't really tell it all-- plus they are very blurry. Hope your hair condition is improving.

The first picture is before, the next set is a few days after the BKT and the last picture is what it looks like today. The bottle is the brand they used at the salon.

Looking at the pics again, the top of my head used to look like that when I relaxed. It would itch then fall out.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Did your hair start breaking instantly or was there some time before you noticed the breakage? What was your regimen?

I am so sorry for your experience.

What temperature did she use? How many swipes did she use? What was your aftercare like (for example, did you use heat more frequently afterwards)?

The breakage occurred over time. I never did any thing different to my hair wash dc curlformers, steam rollers or maxi glide. It was winter so maybe every two weeks.

you need to contact the salon asap......you are probably having an allergic reaction in addition to the fact that bkt didn't agree with your hair. i would make them treat my hair free of charge or at a steep discount till the condition improved.
i'm a little confused though. you said you got it done in nov 10 but its still itching? you said that it made your hair break and fallout within days of getting it. did you have it done more than once since that time? maybe i didn't read something correctly.

Did you have a relaxer in the pics in your fotki? It shows a damaged nape. Maybe chemicals are not a good choice for your hair. Why did you decide to get one?

I did not have a immediate reaction to it. But my hair looked like this the last time I had a perm in 2004. I don't think they had ever worked on AA hair before. I think the back is a totally different texture from the front so she probably put more on the back to get it straight.

:nono: i'm so sorry girlie....it will grow back healthier than ever. i have always felt like bkt was too good to be true. what are you doing currently to care for your hair other than gradually trimming away the damage and staying on top of moisture/porosity/protein?

I am going to get it cut and start over. Other people had such good results I thought hey this should ok. Boy did I learn.

What condition was you hair in before the BKT? Besides appearing fine, was it healthy? Were you having any issues with shedding, dryness? etc??

Sorry that happened to you. :nono:
It does look like relaxer damage but since it's been so long since your BKT treatment in November 2010, I am not sure what the salon would be willing to do to compensate you.

I have used BKT since 4/2009 with no problems. I wonder if it really was something other than BKT in that bottle? Some salons are known to add relaxer to products for natural hair clients.:nono:
