I heard about this before,
did a search but nothing was
relevant to lemon water as it
relates to hair growth.
I know its good for you...
you should drink a warm cup
of it as soon as you wake up...
makes water easier to drink...
blah blah blah...
but has anyone heard of it being
used specifically for hair growth?
I mean...
I'm sure it couldn't hurt...

i dont know about hair growth. but i use lemon to help me drink more water cause i dont like to drink water and it helps me drink more so i guess it do help. :)

I don't know about hair growth, but adding fresh lemon juice and zest to your water will help improve liver function thus making your body better able to detox itself.

I've never heard, read of or experienced hair growth from this. Me and a few friends were doing this for a few weeks each morning for liver cleansing/detoxing but we all stopped.

They starting breaking out with itching bumps on their hands and all three of us had breakouts on our face. I still have a blemish from the hugest cystic acne I've ever had in my life. It's like your skin is defecating. It was the detoxing effect which was a good thing but we just couldn't bear to keep going past the flushing stage.

A little lemon water applied topically can DEFINETELY help hair growth. Apply a little to your scalp at least 1x week will make a huge difference.

Lemon is known for controlling the sebum flow.

Now as far as it being taken internally, I'm not sure of the benefits.

I think Isis has something about this in her journal. I can't remember if it was for hair growth or not. Drinking lemon water sounds beneficial though. I may try this :scratchch

Okay... I know where I got it from.
Isis I either read it in her fotki or here
and she said it was recommended to
her by Sylver2... so... they have both
been features of the month...
I've been doing it for about 1 week now
no adverse effects... I enjoy drinking water
more now because of it... thats it.

I drink lemon water & MSM most mornings. I can't tell if it's contributing to hair growth, since I also do vitamins and Boundless Tresses. But I seem to average 0.5 inch per month no matter what I do.

The lemon water masks the taste of the MSM, and it helps to balance your body's pH.

Fresh lemons and zest (the yellow part of the peel).

If the detox effects are causing skin problems, I suggest try water withh pure cranberry juice for your kidneys. The lemon water and cranberry water will help give a faster flush. If you also eat more fiber, that will also help.

I drink lemon water from time to time when i think about it and always feel that follicle action on my scalp so I say it does help!!

For those of you who are drinking lemon water, are you using freshly lemons or lemon juice?

I use fresh squeezed juice. I buy 6-8 lemons each week (usually organic), and make a week's worth of lemon water; I use stevia to sweeten it. I add the MSM to each individual serving right before I drink it. I drink this first thing in the morning.

If I'm out of lemons, I will use bottled juice, in a pinch.

I'll have to try this lemon water with msm, I recently started taking it and lord! Its horrible I try to mix it with orang juice but I still taste it I'm gonna try the lemon

I have been doing this for a long time. I haven't been doing it regularly lately. I get really nice hair growth. I started this way back in 1999 ...around then, after reading a book by Dr. Haas called "the detox diet".

It's nice to drink it in lukewarm water, especially if you want it to help with digestion, or even very warm water.

I drink lemon and water mix from time to time for detoxing. I don't think it makes hair grow. I just want to add that if you drink lemon water or any acid drinks. Please do so with a straw to lessen the contact with your teeth because these drinks can wear on the enamel of your teeth. After drinking, always rinse your mouth with clear water to help neutralize the acid build up on your teeth.

I've heard of lemon and water as a kidney/liver cleanse. I imagine it could have an affect on your hair growth. If your organs are clear than your vitamins and such get absorbed better.I grew up drinking lemon and water and I think it's why I had great skin.

I have heard of lime and water for weight loss. The women in my family drink lime and water or lemon and water throughout the day, but especially in the morning. It cuts fat IIRC and helps keep your metabolism in check.

Thanks PJ76! Are you adding all six to about a pitcher of water.

I also drink MSM water first thing in the morning, I've gotten used to the bitter taste. However, sounds like including lemon made have additional benefits.

Yes, I squeeze all of the lemons in a container, then add the water and stevia & store it in the fridge. I was previously squeezing the juice and storing it in a small container, then making a fresh glass of lemon water in the mornings (using purified tap water). I like this method because the water isn't as cold, but it's much faster to make it all at once.

BTW, I think I'm going to stop using MSM after I use up my current supply (just getting tired of taking it, LOL), but I'll still happily drink my lemon water in the mornings!

I may have to just squeeze the lemons at store in the fridge and then add to the water daily. I like to drink my water at room temperature, I don't like drinking ice cold water.

LOL!!! Girl, I feel you on getting tired of taking the MSM. I recently reduced my daily intake from 1tsp. to 1/2 tsp. Somedays I only do 1/4 tsp. Sometimes I take a break from MSM (for like 3-4) days and then start back up again. I won't be quitting MSM any time soon, I took advantage of the 3 for 1 that Puritan's Pride had a few weeks ago.:D

You can save a lot of money
by not buying bottled water.
I have a water filter.
I just cut up one lemon,
put it in a pitcher
(peel, seeds, and everything)
and then fill up
with filtered water
I like drinking my water
room temperature.

If I'm having allergy symptoms or I'm sick I always drink warm lemon water. My mother used to add rum to it when I was kid and had a cold. :look: I sometimes drink it on nights when I'm feeling homesick (sans rum). :wink2:

I was drinking lemon water and taking MSM capsules every morning to sort of "detox." I think I did this about two years ago? I was drinking lemon water on a regular basis in 2005 and 2006 (mostly to aide in digestion). I use room temperature water though (I like it straight...no sugar). My aunt swears by drinking lemon water every morning so I've "heard" about it for years. I can't say I got any noticeable detox side effects (bumps) or extra hair growth.

thank you SO MUCH for that advice!! I've been drinking lemon water (fresh lemons) nearly every day for over a year.

My back teeth have become sooooooooo sensitive, and I had no idea why! I thought maybe my fillings were gettin loose, however my dentist said that my teeth looked fine--and my fillings were fine also. His only advice was to use Sensodyne toothpaste, which I've been doing, but my teeth are still slightly sensitive, especially with cold foods/liquids.

I NEVER thought about the fact that it could be the acid in the daily hot lemon juice that I've been drinking, wearing down the enamel on my teeth!!

I've already drank my lemon water this morning---but starting tomorrow, I'll start using a straw and see if that makes any difference!

Thanks for even mentioning this!!!

--------

btw--I haven't noticed any hair growth due solely to drinking lemon water, however I have gained several inches. But I can't give total credit to the lemon water, because I use several topical products and take many vitamins.

Ok I see what you are saying about the sebum flow, but wont the acid from the lemon actually dry your hair out? to mee that just seems like that would negate any benefit it had :perplexed. Just throwing my initial thoughts out there.
