O.K. ladies, I am trying to stretch 6 months and I feel like my new growth is really dry! I co-wash 2x a week and deep cond once. I have been keeping my hair in braids or under a wig. I am finding that combing is becoming a chore! I am about 14 weeks post now and this is the longest I have stretched thus far! I just took off my head wrap right now and my hair is actually soft right now, because I had dc'd over night and sat under a hooded dryer, so I guess what I am trying to ask is what leave in is good for a lot of new growth to keep it moist! Thanks ladies!

BUMP!! Now I know y'all have some answers so give them up! Don't leave your girl hanging lol!

What conditioners are you currently using for co-washes and DCing?
You name it I probably have it lol! Lately I have been dc'ing with a mix of ors, honey, evoo. Right now I'm under the dryer with coconut oil, porosity control, honey,Alma oil, redken real control ask and my hair feels great! I usually co-wash with Aussie moist or redken all soft. I use various leave ins from salerm to ltr, Its just finding something to use on this new texture that I'm not use to.

lol. So I'm assuming you've already tried all of your conditioners as leave-ins?
Have you already tried shea butter?

Since you are relaxed, Lacio Lacio is a great choice, esp on NG. My mother has become addicted to it (my bottle )...it's nice for natural hair too.

If you want cheapo, Moisture Max by Lustrasilk is quite good I find. Expensive end, Dudley's PCA all the way.

You can use these on that adorable baby too!

I didn't know lacio lacio worked well on natural hair too! I wanted to try it but I thought it worked best for relaxed ladies. Thanks!

I use it...it's great, I think. For naturals is gives nice shine and a light moisture. If you need heavy heavy duty moisture, you might be disappointed (go for PCA), but I think many naturals use it and love it. I started using it 1st and then tried some on my mother since reading about how good it is w/ relaxed heads. She said it literally melted about 2+ in of NG into feeling like one texture.

LOL...I don't have this issue nor do you, but I love the fact that it works on us both very well.

You can try Rusk Smoother or HE LTR Leave In.
TY! I have the LTR, but it is not working on this new growth! On my regular relaxed hair I love it! I may have to try the Rusk, is it thick?

HAHA! I haven't tried leaving in my regular condishes in awhile, I tried that when my hair was less THICK! and it wasn't great, but I just took my daughter a bath and washed her hair and left in some yes to carrots condish and her hair looks and feels great! Oh and I just started making and using my own whipped shea butter.:lick:

I'd add some some LTR to EVOO and heat it up. It always softens my hair and it should be light enough to not hurt the relaxed hair.

I have about 20 wks ng and I have been using HE LTR leave in mixed with avon's intense repair treatment
and then i add coconut oil this maks my braid outs soft and frizz free. Also my NG is soft and manageable.
If you don't mind too much Dimethicone I also use Garnier's Strength and repair conditioner as a leave in.

Giovanni Direct Leave In moisturized my older sister's new growth very nicely(she's transitioning). Even when her hair dried it was very soft and well moisturized.

Silicon Mix does wonders for new growth as a DC and I use Salerm 21 for a leave in. This combo could probably get me to stretch until the end of the year!

Maybe try Scurl no drip. I put mine in a color applicator bottle to squirt a little at the scalp and on the hair itself. Then lock in with Olive Oil.
If you are wearing your hair curly during the day you can leave conditioner in your hair and lock it in with a little olive oil too.
