I've heard of stylist accepting payment plans after the fact but this seems like an interesting idea & a way to keep a steady income for stylists. She also offers car service for an additional fee.

Style On Lay- Away...

Neph's Kinky Kreations has developed a way for clients to experience Quality Hair Care without having to pay in full at the time of appointment. This way, Clients can pay a little here and a little there to take the load off what's due when you finally sit in the chair!!! You can make how many payments you'd like before your arrival. Some of my clients pay only $10 - $30 when they come because they have paid for most of the cost already!!! This Plan is great for those who don't like to spend 100, 200, 300 all at once. Try it out.. you'll love it!!

To participate in The Lay-Away Plan, a deposit of $40 is required

these days - people should think about doing this! I sacrifice for hair styles - that is why I just don't do it anymore. I had to stop over the yaers. Braiders want too much money. I would rather spend 4 days braidiing.

I would not do that. Clients could lie to you and say, I paid you already and I would say no you did not. And there would be a fight up in the salon!

I love this idea! I would like braids and twists often, but price is a major factor for me! This would be ideal! I'm going to ask around about folks here trying this out...

Just like any other business if you keep a reeciept there should not be a reason for any fighting. Other businesses do payment plans I dont see why a stylist couldnt do it.

there is thing nifty thing called a receipt....

yea if that is given to the client detailing the amount received and the balance....why is there going to be a fight?

I just wouldn't do it. Now, I am the kind of stylist that if you can't pay all of your payment, I could lower the price some. I am not a mean stylist that only wants your money. I care about my clients too. Just come to me before your appointment and talk to me. We could talk about a lower price for this one time.

Now, with some of my clients I could do this. But with some I could not. Some people would get mad even if I had receipt. Saying I made a fake receipt or something silly like that. My business is doing ok right now. I just would not do it.

I've not seen it done like this. What I've seen is stylists discounting services for clients that come every week. For instance, if you normally pay $40 for a wash and set you can get on a plan where you pay $25 or $30 instead but come every week and it might include a trim as well. The catch is that you have to come every week so it gives the stylist steady income and more money in the long run.The benefit to the client is obviously healthier hair.

DH's new Locktician offers a payment plan.

She told DH that she has clients that pay her weekly, biweekly or monthly based on their pay schedule and she does their hair regularly i.e., hair done each week although the person is only paid once per month & in turns the stylist is paid by that client only once per month.

Apparently she has enough people on this payment plan styling that she is doing quite well in this economy.

She did admit, once DH asked, that she has been burned by a few people that never paid her but they were one time clients & not regulars. DH is not on a plan but the next time he goes I will have him ask her about the receipt or ledger process that she uses.

The stylist that I posted about uses PayPayl so that makes it much easier to prove who had paid & who has not.
