Hi guys, haven't posted in a while, because I've been dealing with the sweet ol' pregnancy symptoms. Beside the normal symptoms you deal with, I'm realizing that my hair is SUFFERING hardcore from this pregnancy.

I used to be fine with the weekly deep conditioning and using Infusium 21 with avocado butter, but my hair just feels like straw and is totally unmanageable. :wallbash:

I can't deal with it anymore. I'm THIS close to giving myself a buzz cut and erasing five years of hair growth. I want to save my hair, but in between nausea, moods swings and migraines, I don't have the nerve to deal with this anymore.

I was thinking about getting a protective style other than the bun I wear everyday - something with no manipulation - but I haven't had one of those in ages, so I don't know if my hair will react to it. Besides that, all of our resources have been diverted to soon-to-be-baby, so I'd feel kind of bad using $100 for some hair style that I can only wear up to three months. I really need a long term solution.

Please help!

I'm early in my pregnancy journey, and I'm already wondering what effect it will have on my hair. I currently stretch, but I had no intention of stretching for 30+weeks. I'm thinking of trying braids, but I agree it's hard to dish out that money with a baby on the way, but I think it's the best solution.Good Luck!

At the end of my pregnancy, I wore cornrows. My hair grew like a weed from the vitamins. Just don't cut it!

ETA: It wasn't expensive because I had in-home hair stylists do it.

Try braiding it up. That's what I plan on doing. I'm 3 months pregnant and I've noticed my har is barely gowing. Maybe 1/4 of an in a month as opposed to my usual 1/2-3/4. I'm angry because I have a twa and while I like it, I'd like for it to grow!!! With my DD my hair was AMAZING and grew like a weed !! It's not fair.

I think a PS would be good. I have devoted my hair to twisting for the rest of my pregnancy. I am just now getting over the morning sickness but am still really tired. My goal is to have to retwist every 2-3 weeks.

PS Congrats on the little one!

You guys are better than me, all I did was co wash and bun my entire pregnancy and I had growth.. My post partum shedding came on the sides of my hair.. I just hid the balding area under hair (creative combing) and nursed it back with nutrine garlic shampoo, aphogee 2 step and lots and lots of prayer.. I have heard lots of horror stories of micro braids and pregnancy, it brought a lot of women's hair out.. If you are braiding you own hair up, that sounds great..

Wishing all preggie ladies the best!

I just had a baby 6 months ago so this issue is fresh & dear to me :)

1. Increase deep conditioning to at least 2X per week AFTER a good clarifying wash
2. Change up your products if you've been using the same thing for so long your hair might be "tired" of them.
3. Protective styling is your friend! Uggggh I hated doing my hair certain points during my pregnancy. This is a good time for braids & nurturing your hair.
4. Realize that your hormones are RAGING & that a rash decision may cost you 5 yrs of growth!

I'm 20 weeks and I couldn't STAND the smell of products for about the first 13 weeks, so I went and got micro's. I am transitioning for 10 months but I know that these micro's have really messed up my hair. So much so that I know I won't be transitioning anymore when these bad boys come out, I'll just go straight to BC'ing it. I've never worn micros before and it's hard to keep them moisturized, i try everything but my scalp is always dry. Good luck!

I am 10 weeks and I totally agree with your post. My hair hates me and has been shedding a lot. I attribute that to the change in hormones. It is also really dry. I have thought about a wig to try. Maybe that would be beneficial.

I braided my hair throughout my pregnancy and my DD is now 9 months but during that time it grew ALOT and it was so easy to just style the braids versus my own hair.

Gosh, I feel so much better after hearing that others go through the same stuff too. I think I'm going to have to bit the bullet and get a set of kinky twists for the mean time and just not occupy myself with the thought of hair. It just frustrates me so much.

Like it's not enough to deal with the symptoms, your crown and glory is turning against you... Like an evil spawn. *lol

Btw thanks @KCurly.
