How do you care for your hair? Do you wash it everyday after working out?

I average 5-6 days of cardio and I just can't imagine washing my hair everyday. LOL! The past few days I have been combing it out after my work out and cross-wrapping it and allowing it to air dry. I definitely don't wanna give up my workout but I don't wanna sacrifice my hair either.

Also, I've seen talk of a "summer growth spurt" what exactly is that? I've seen people talk about it, but not in-depth. Does it mean that the "heat" causes hair to grow faster?

Thanks! :spinning:

Salt/Sweat is NOT bad for your hair...

I work out 5-6 times a week and I just go on about my business as usual. lol
I co-wash 2-3 times a week (becuz of style changing) and may wash and dc once or twice.

I swim a lot so thats what gets my reggie tricky

I work out 5 days a week. I now tie my hair down with a scarf and take it off after my hair has a little time to dry. It has made a difference in my hair because I sweat alot in my workouts. I wash my hair 1 or 2 times a week.

Potential Hijack:
I should have added I have 4 abxyztee hair. Does that matter? (LOL)
Just kidding...really, just kidding:lachen::lachen:

Okay, I'm going...I'M going.....

Are you ladies relaxed or natural?

If natural (and 4a or 4b)....are you keep your hair straight on a consistent basis?

I am a 5 days a week exerciser and I wash once every 5 days. When I finish exercising I just take off my head band and let my hair dry (I wear a head band while exercising to soak up some of the sweat). Every night I moisturize, then I comb and brush (not detangling, just a light combing to air things out). My hair has not suffered at all.

I usually workout about 3-4 days a week and I co-wash on those days without fail. I love clean hair and I push myself really hard at the gym. I am transitioning (six months in) and it helps to keep my hair detangled.

I workout 3-5 times a week....now im natural and also enjoy clean hair post workout...so I either twist or cornrow my hair into a low bun 4 the week. I co-wash post workout so by the time the weekend hits I have a really cute twistout or braidout :)

or if I weave up (in the weave it up challenge) I would co wash the weave ever 2- 3 days.... I used a curly weave so I had no drama blending. I would flat twist the leave out hair and cover w/ a scarf pre-workout and leave it on through the whole workout and cowash after.

I co wash with a non expensive moisturinzing conditioner when I break a real sweat during my workouts usually cardio. I dont have to cowash after my lift sessions

I workout every morning 6x a week.I co-wash daily with Skala G3 Ceramides. Rinse for 30 seconds with Roux Porosity Control. Dry with a microfiber towel. Use a squirt of Giovanni Direct Leave-In. Use KCCC. Airdry and go to work! I usually put it in a high ponytail every day. My hair is important and cute styles and what not... but my body is WAY more important LOL - so I only straighten very rarely.

Ditto!

I cowash/wash 2 or 3x/wk, workout 4 to 5, but keep it simple for everyday styles ;)

Ditto :yep:

Around this time last year, I was working out about 3x a week. I cowashed after every workout and pinned my hair up. It did wonders for my hair :)

I workout out daily and cowash or at minimum rinse my hair. I'm sporting wash and go's this summer so it's great having fresh curls and a good workout e'er day. (I'm natural btw)

I sweat a lot and I co-wash my hair every couple of days or my scalp will start itching like crazy.

Yep, that's me! I can't stand the feeling of a dirty scalp. Once you learn a routine that lets you style your hair overnight after cowashing it makes the process easier.

I workout in the evenings or swim. Once done I co-wash with 2-3 different conditioners to restore moisture loss from chlorine/salt. Then apply my leave-in (Aphogee pro-vit) and seal it with jane carter nourish and shine. Let hair airdry for about 2-3 hours and cross wrap before going to bed. Hair is slightly damp when I wrap an dries by the AM. Hair dries flat and straight no matter how many weeks post I am. Not as straight as flat-ironing, but straight enough considering no heat applied except my own body heat at night penetrating the cross wrap. If I want a bump in the ends I curl them under that AM with satin rollers for hour while I get ready.

This regimine has given me the freedom to swim and workout as much as I want without fear of losing hair or style.

I'm natural and I work out daily, but do nothing different to my hair. Just go on about my business afterwards. If my hair's straightened, I get some frizzy roots but whatever--I embrace them.

I'm relaxed. I work out 5 to 6 days a week. I Condition wash everyday. It really works for me. Sweat really makes my hair dry. My hairdresser recommends that I rinse the sweat out of my hair after each work out. I condition wash, use a leave in and a little coconut oil and pull it back. When I do wear my hair out, it feels like a treat because it's usually pulled back everyday. Working out is very important to me. Would I like to have beautiful hair everyday? Yes. But being healthy and keeping my weight manageable is very important to me as well.

what are your post workout hairstyles? WNG? buns? or something else (please share if so). trying to get some ideas myself. thx.

when i grow up.......wanna be just like you

i wear a half wig so once i workout..the wig comes off and my hair is in plaits in a high bun..i do insanity so by the time im done..im soaked in sweat.i rinse my hair on some days and co wash on others depending how tired i am after the workout...once done..dry my hair w/a micro fiber towel, seal(if i co washed) and go on about my business

I work out around 3-4 times a week and I cowash whenever I work out. I'm actually working out tonight and then cowashing afterward. I just find it fresher and easier to manage my hair.....plus I just wet bun it afterward. It doesn't take long and seems to be efficient.

I'm curious about the supposed summer growth spurt too. I hear vague mentions of it, but wtf is it? Is it something specific you do during the summer months? Or is it one of those exaggerated things?
