I emailed them yesterday and asked for a discount....it cost $60 plus $14.95 for shipping :perplexed...I got a reply the same day with a $10 discount offer which was really nice of them...it's still pretty expensive to me so I haven't made up my mind yet...just wanted to suggest to those of you who plan on getting one to call/email them to ask for a discount.

Yeah that was pretty nice of them. That's a lot for shipping! I still haven't made my mind up either.

Although I really like this product, I have to agree that it’s not the magic bullet for getting rid of all split ends. You really need to have decent ends from the word go.

I cut 4-6 inches from my hair back in February using scissors, but then I followed that up with the Split Ender to get the mid-shaft splits that I missed with my self trim. I got great results from it -- it made my hair very, smooth and shiny. I’ve used it twice so far, and I noticed two things about it:

  • I can only use this device when my hair is flat ironed straight. Any kind of kink in my hair yields less than stellar results.
  • When I use it, I go over each section of hair at least 2 times --- and I have to go very slowly over each section. If you go too fast, you are bound to miss some splits. It's easy to go too fast too, because the noise it makes is irritating and I find myself rushing just to get done.
  • When I dramatically twist my wrist, it seems to get more of the split ends than when I just use the tool straight up and down. The twisting action pops up ends of the fly away hairs even more, so they get cut easier. I really think that made the difference, but I’ll have to do some more experimentation with that technique to be sure.
I think they need to just market the Split Ender as a dusting tool, and not try to tout that it will replace a good old fashioned trim, because it just doesn’t.

Overall, I give it a thumbs up.

I purchased this and used it for the first time yesterday. I love it. My hair was a lot softer after using it even though I did follow up with scissors a couple of times but over all I'm pleased with the job it did. I wanted to start with some clean ends before I got my hair braided which I did today. I'll probably take these out in about 6 weeks (I'm already 9 weeks post) and use it again after my relaxer.

What would you compare the noise level to?...is it louder than a blow dryer?
I didn't think it was loud at all, just a slight clicking as you glide it down. The youtube vids had me thinking it was gonna sound like a lawnmower. Evidently video camera's pick up way more of the sound.

I emailed them again to ask if there were other colors (specifically black or clear) and the response was, "The only colors are Pink and Blue but if you will like to wait for week, we will also have some in Green and Orange. These new colors will come with a plastic pressing handle and front gears while the current Blue and Pink are in metal"....are yall having problems with having a metal pressing handle and gears...would plastic make a difference?

Well supposedly the metal ones are suppose to be the improved version for that reason: the metal handle. I heard that people were having problems with the plastic breaking but that could be because they dropped it or something. I have the metal handle.

I purchased mine on ebay from this seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/Talavera-Split-...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c11dc415b

You can avoid the shipping charge. It is the actual company, they use ebay to move more product. You get a 30 day money back guarantee and a 6 month warranty. I have not purchased the extended warranty. I sent my product back to them for repair and they sent me a notice that they shipped it back to me yesterday. I would for sure purchase from them on ebay so that you can take advantage of the free shipping. They also have the pink color as well. Just make sure you only buy from the seller listed in the link because it is the company themselves.

^^thanks...I already bought it from the site...I paid $64.93 total but I wish I would've known the company was on ebay

^^^ Oh great just what I needed to hear after I already bought mine. I like the one I have so, I will have to use it until it dies, LOL.

Just bought one of these  i'm so excited. I really wanted to use it on blow dried hair (as straight as a blow dry can get mostly natural hair) If I use small enough sections, will it work or do I have to use a straightener?

Just tried the split ender on my blow dried hair, not really ideal as my ends weren't straight enough so there was abit of tugging if my sections weren't small enough.
However I did my whole head and after looking at the little chopped ends it got rid of alot of splits and ssks. I think it's going to do a much more throrough job when I use on on straightened hair (in Dec) but it already has my ends feeling great, I love this thing!

I just ordered mine from the Ebay seller Victor. Shipping included. I will be straightening my hair at the end of the month and will be able to give a review then.

Just received my split ender, so that was a quick turnaround since I washed yesterday I'm going to use it today and we'll see how it goes!!!
