Ladies who texturize their hair and wear it curly

what products do you use to keep your hair/curls moist? Also, how often do you texturize?
I texturized my hair today after the BIG CHOP! I used an s-curl regular texturizer.

Take a look at the link below of the results and tell me what you think. I am new at this but I followed the directions closely...

Inorder to keep my curls moisturized I use the following hair products on my wet hair and then I let it airdry:

Leave-in Conditioners:

1) Suave conditioners (milk & honey, lavendar, citrus smoothie), African Royale daily doctor leave-in conditioner or Asha's silkrose elixir leave-in conditioner.

Moisturizers:

2) World of Curls activator gel (extra dry), myhoneychild honey soy hair milk or Elasta QP recovery oil moisturizer.

Serums and curl definer:

3) NTM serum, Oyins shine and define serum or Kinky curly curling custard.

I texturize my hair every 3-4 months (12-16 weeks).I was trying to stretch my texturizer to 6 months but it wasn't happening

Ronda123 Congratulations on your Big Chop and texturizer!!! It looks very pretty! Your hair texturized looks like mine when I big chopped and texturized my own hair in July 2004...
To keep my curls moist and looking good, well...before I started using Kinky Curly Jojoba Jelly recently (which is great for curl moisture), I would condition wash my hair with Treseme vitamin e conditioner then spray my hair with some surge or whatever leave in conditioner I could find, then put salon selectives loosely defined in my hair. The next day of course it looks anything BUT loosely defined, so I spray my hair with some water and glycerin/rosewater (you can get that from walgreens.com) and rescrunch my hair to get my hair back to life.

These days however, I've been condition washing, then using NTM silk cream leave in then putting some Jojoba Jelly OR Salon Selectives Loosely Defined and then scrunching my hair while it dries till its big and curly enough...

I texturize my hair every 10-12 weeks with Silk Elements Regular texturizer from Sally's Beauty Supply. As a matter of fact, I am due to touch up my hair tomorrow...

I just got my hair texturized in March, so I'm kind of new to this as well. I'm not sure what my stylist used to texturize my hair, but she did a really good job in my opinion. I wasn't able to take pics because I dropped and broke my camera and haven't gotten a new one yet, but as soon as I get a new camera, I'll put up pics of my texturized hair. The products I use are Nairobi (suggested by my stylist). I can only find it online other than getting it from her. It keeps hair moisturized, but it tends to dry it really curly and with not much sheen, although your hair stays soft. I also use Elasta Liquid as Silk, it keeps it shiny, but it dries with a hold. So it's harder to the touch, but it stays in place, LOL. I'm still searching for a the perfect one, but for now both of those are working for me. Sometimes I combine them so that I still get the 'wet' look, but the softness as well.

I use Suave humectress and deep brilliance leave in combo. There are other things that I cannot think of right now. I'll check at home.

I have two textures, so it's hard to maintain the curly part while getting the limp,straight part to curl/bend. One of these days, I'll cut out all the relaxed ends, but I don't want a big chop yet.

I use Akiva hair milk and honey.

sleep with a silk scarf and remember that water is key for curly hair. Wet it a lot and wash it about every 3 days at least

Oh my gosh! It is??? Well, if it is discontinued, you can also try Citre Shine Curl Booster or World of Curls Curl Activator (which I have up for swap on the Hair Exchange Board if you would like to have them). Those two products work great too...

I read this weekend somewhere on the net at a retailers website that it is in fact discontinued. I was searching for it locally, no luck. I don't want to find it and like something I can't continue to use. Oh, the Jojoba Jelly is off the website too.

I've tried and liked the following:

If you're looking for something that leaves your hair soft/supple feeling moisturized:

1. Smooth and Shine Curl Activator Gel is really good (bought this recently), keeps hair very supple.

2. L'oreal Out of Bed (cream or gel, I forget, it's more like a cream though, it's got Castor Oil in it). Anyway, I really like this stuff!

3. Kinky Curly's Curling Custard

If you're looking more hold:

1. The Citre Shine Wave Booster can leave your hair a little crunchy if you apply too much.

2. Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, good, if you have the patience with it.

3. Bubble Up Styling Pudding (used w/the V05). Definite keeper when I want more hold than the Curling Custard. This is my personal favorite of all of them.

Leave In conditioners I use with these: V05 Peaches & Cream, Suave Milk & Honey and Aussie Knot Detangler. I'm partial to the V05 as a leave in.

I was trying to stretch my texturizers to every 4 months, realistically, it's more like every 8 weeks, to ward of breakage from the different textures.

I love your curls. My favorite products for achieving curls are Nexxus Humectress, Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, and believe it or not L.A. Looks without alcohol ($2 at Target).

beautiful curls! for definition i really love paul michell foaming pommade. for leave in conditioner i love sebastian potion #9. if your protien sensitive i wouldn't recommend using potion 9.

For moisture, I'll use one of the following
*castor oil
*Carol's Daughter cocoa butter body jam
*Carol's Daughter Tui Hair oil
*other random liquid oils (excluding mineral oil and other vaseline types)
*Elasta QP Mango Butter (ends only)
I always apply the moisture product to wet or damp hair

for conditioning and hold, I start with diluted Pantene R&N conditioner and add one of the following
*Fantasia IC gel
*Rusk Wired
*BBD Glass/Lie n' Freddie Texturizing Creme (which is amazingly just like Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding but cheaper
*Iso Bouncy Creme (for a lighter hold)

Good luck! Remember to thoroughly coat hair with moisture, products, and water to get the right balance for perfect curls. I mainly add moisture to last 8 inches of hair, concentrating on ends.

It's made by BBD as well as Glass. I just think they slap a different label on Glass to appeal to different folks.

I've seen it at Eccerds and Rite Aid. There are to types however. I don't know which is better. There is the Studio line and the Alt Studio Line.

I left the texturizer on for 15 minutes, the instructions said to leave the texturizer on for 20 minutes and not to exceed 35 mintues. My natural hair texture is 3c/4a (curly/coily), with mostly 4a.

Thanks! I texturized my hair on 05-24-05 and I highlighted about 6 weeks later. I used Herbal Essence Highlighting kit (a friend recommended this kit). I didn't use the highlighting tool (comb). I applied the product where I wanted highlights but for some it is easier to use a frosting cap. When you apply the product, you can see color changes occur. When I saw the color I wanted I washed the product out. There was no dryness when I washed out and I immediately conditioned.

Usually, I use Natural Instincts, a semi-permanent color that lasts for about 24 weeks. It only produces a slight color change, nothing dramatic. This is why I used the Herbal Essence Highlighting kit; I wanted a noticeable change in color. Also, I make sure I baby my hair with extra conditioner, extra moisture and a serum.
