Regular braid extensions, just go to the african hair braiders and ask for regular braid extensions, they're pretty much standard.....or you can flip thru one of the magazines they have on hand and point it out to them or bring ur pic urself:yep:

I got those when I first decided to go natural it looked cute but the takedown was a DOOZY I like the takedown of senegalese twists MUCH better :yep: its so easy just grab from the base and pull apart and you're done.

Then again the takedown for my pixies is gonna be crazy too lol oh well......

Hi there,

Thanks so much for your reply. I also found another pic of the braids that I actually want b/c I too thought about the take down:nono: not for me at all. The following is a link to the braids I plan on getting in October to help me transition: http://www.braidsbybreslin.com/images/examples/s_BoxBraids2.jpg. I am going to look into the senegalese twists you mentioned and kinky twists.
ETA: Do you mind me asking what type of hair you used for your senegalese twists?

Allow me to intrude but braid takedown isn't hard if you use your fingers and especially if the braider kept the three braid sections separate and your hair separate. It only gets hard if that's not done, or if you use a comb. Having the additional hair involve in the braid makes it so much easier than undoing your own hair if done in tiny braids.

Using your fingers also saves the hair (I do this with human hair that I paid a lot for) so that the hair isn't damaged. I made this video to show someone that wanted to know how it is that I can save hair from braids for use again. The secret is just not to rush and insert your fingers too far down the braid. Do it step by step and in the absence of tangles coz you're not rushing, you will find undoing braid is uber fast. And if you do it while watching a movie, a little at a time, it should not take as long as it took to put them in.

I don't mind at all I'm at my happiest when I'm helping a woman with her natural journey:infatuated:

Here is a great vid displaying well done senegalese twists on a young girl, the music is really hood but the style is lovely, similar to how I've done it several times before.....its easy to do on your own too the parts aren't even that small and although I'm against extensions on little girl's, I've had these kinds of twists several times and its one of the most gentle out there on your scalp and your hair. I like it because it protects my ends (you won't have to worry about SSK's at all with this), it's light but with just enough weight to give a boost to growth it looks really nice, theres no real stress on the hair and it gives you an opportunity to play with color without damaging your own hair.

As for what hair I use to do my twists....thats the best part....I get the cheap $3 kanekalon hair and thats all I need, I try to stay around 3 packs and no more. I love that because when you're getting braids you have to use human hair to make sure your hair doesn't break off but with twists you can use that $1 or $3 hair and get the same wonderful results.

I'm strongly considering doing them next as well, but I'm not sure......I might just convert my braids to twists or I might straighten because I'm due for a serious search & destroy dusting session with my ends:scratchch I'll have to see....

Thanks for giving me hope for the takedown Nonie!!!
