Hi Ladies!
I'm new to LHCF after about a month of lurking lol. Well I've been a member for about a week and I found a hair regimen that I can stick to and some products that I want to try....I'm also trying to do a 6 month stretch (I'm at week 8 right now). And I want to take this time in between relaxers to get my hair in the best condition that it could possibly be in. So that I can have healthy hair before and after my next relaxer.

Well my problem is that my hair seems to be really resistant to anything that I have been trying to do lately! It feels really dry and brittle and it doesn't take conditioner at all like it used to. I don't know if this is because I need to use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of build up or what. But I'm at my wits end :wallbash:. Somebody please help me I really want my hair to be right again.

If your hair is not reacting to the conditioners then you definitely need to clarify.

I would deep condition after clarifying.

I agree I would definitely try a clarifying shampoo and since you are no having ANY success w/ your cons...try leaving it on for about 3 min to really do a deep cleaning.....but make sure you follow up with a deep con w/heat....HTH

Well I'm taking classes at my college right now and I dont have a hooded dryer....do you think that I would be able to just put a shower cap on and wrap a towel around it as a last resort, because I really dont want to have to wait until I go home in two weeks to use the clarifying shampoo. Thanks for your help!

That's what I do when I have other things to do around the house and unable to sit still. Every little bit helps, I say go for it!

I'm at college too w/ no hooded dryer. In order to deep condition I apply the deep-con, put on a plastic cap and use my hand held dryer to give my conditioner some heat. After about 5-10 minutes (yes your hand will cramp, but beauty is pain! :lachen:) just walk around and do whatever for 20 more minutes. Also, try rinsing w/ cold water...its a shocker, but you're be awake and your hair will be shiny!!!!

...Also try adding a tsp of jojoba oil and 3 drops of lavendar for extra con.

If you have hand towels, you could thoroughly wet one, wring it out, put it in the microwave for 2 min. Then put it over a plastic cap, pin it on somehow, then put a bath towel over that. Leave on for 15-20 min. Works for me! Warning, the towel out of microwave will be very hot!

:thankyou: ALL sooooo much for your help:urock:lol...Today I washed my hair with TRESemme poo and let it sit in my hair for about 3 mins like netnet26 said. After I washed it out my hair truly felt squeaky clean but in a stripped kind of way...but i think it was wat i needed to get all of the buildup out of my hair. Then I used CON conditioner and left it in for about 10 mins. I had to used CON because I didn't have anymore ORS Replenishing Packs but it worked just fine. After I rinsed it I put a mix of ORS olive oil hair lotion and Keracare leave-in for a little bit of extra moisture and combed through. I let my hair air dry until slightly damp then I put some rollers in with some more hair lotion and put a satin bonnet over it. I'll see how the curls come out in the morning...But so far so good!!!!

Hope everything works out.........and if it dont we got yo back and find another solution ...pls let us know how it went. :yep:

macherieamour's Website suggested to heat your conditioner in the microwave and apply it to your hair and cover with a plastic cap. I think that this is a good alternative method for someone who doesnt have time to sit under the dryer:grin:

When I'm unable to deep condition under the dryer, I heat my conditioner up in the microwave on go from there.

Don't cut your hair off! :nono: Try using a protein conditioner followed by a moisturizing conditioner and see if that helps.

HTH! :)
