Would I look funny/strange if I shaved the thin portion of my nape area? My hair never grew in this area. Never! :ohwell:

if you mean to clean it up like a shape up then it's not too weird, my mom had shaped mines up a bit back in the days when I was turning wolf like lol!, don't know if wolf like is your issue.

I would just clean it up a bit, so no matter what you've tried it has never grown out?

So far nothing! But I bought some peppermint EO. I'll mixed that with jojoba oil and massage it in that area. I'm going to start this tonight. I don't even wanna wear my hair up b/c of this!

Im just worried that if u shave it, the next layer of hair above it will be exposed to the same treatment/rubbing/etc that thinned out your nape in the first place.... just be careful

Good point. Have you figured out why the area won't retain any growth? How often do you moisturize back there? Do you tie your knot for your silk/satin scarf at your nape? Avoid lower ponies/buns? Do you start your relaxer applications back there? I am not sure what shaving the area would accomplish unless you just want a fresh start back there. That is a challenging area for me as well, if I don't stay on top of the tender loving care then it is over.

Not sure. I think you should try something to make it grow like what you already have planned. To me it doesn't look like it's suppossed to be that way rather it just need some extra TLC.

OT-OP I see your rocking the inside out Tee, I do that too sometimes. People be like "Girl you know your shirts on backwards right" Like I didn't put it on this morning.

Thanks for the replies. That area has always been this way. I never wear buns and I rarely wear my hair up. I don't wear my scarf tight because I'll get a headache. I moisturized this area a little more than the other areas. Oh, and this area is left last during a relaxer.Sometimes I will not even relaxer this part. Haven't done that in a few months- it straightens easy with a with a quick pass with a round brush.

OP, when you relax do you start in this area? The reason why I ask is bc I had problems with my nape also. Once I went natural I realized that this area of my hair is like 3a hair and I was melting it away. I always thought that I need to start in the back but turns out I don't need any relaxer back there bc it's naturally straight!

I say leave it alone. Try to keep it moisturized and be careful with the scarfs...my edges were a bit broken from heat and they are growing nicely because i didnt use heat for 3 months.
