I've never made a full wig, but I have made my own half wig using wet and wavy hair. My hair cost me about $10 a pack so it came out to the same price roughly as buying a wig. Basically what I did was I got a dome head and a stocking cap and glued the track hair on to it (similar to how you do a quick weave). I let it dry overnight and the next day it was good to go.
