Ladies help me with dd

DD is 17 years old and of course she's image and self conscience of her appearance. She got a job at a theme park in one of those Elmo body suits as a performer. I have told her that she need to braid or twist her hair for the summer because no way am I'm going to wash, air dry (or blow dry) and flat iron her almost waist length hair 4 to 5 days a week. It just too much stress on her hair and me and for what? Just to sweat out the press again? I normally do all of this every 2 weeks not several times a week.
She hates the idea. I told her she could even get a wig for the days she's not working or perhaps a weave:ohwell: (I really hate the idea of a weave in that hot costume) I also told her I would not allow her to retouch the edges either.
Do you think I'm correct in my hair logic? You don't think I'm being too hard on her do you? I just hate the idea of dealing with the tears if her hair breaks off or thins out. She thinks I'm being extra and listen to yall too much. But hello! Her hair is the length it is now from me listening to yall. Why re-invent the wheel?
Oh btw: They make costumed employees shower at work before putting on the costume. She hasn't started yet so we don't know if they expect you to shampoo your hair as well. (Most of the employees are white & Mexican) I have agreed to let her just see how things go the first week WITHOUT me doing her hair, just wearing it in a bun.
HELP!!!!!!

she will most def sweat it out if you press it. so i think its smart to put her in braids or a ps till she's done. Maybe you could explain to her that if you press her hair too often it could cause damage?
Or you could just not press it lol

What about curly puffs? Or wash and go's? Im not natural but those are the styles I see mentioned the most.

^^Braids will be hot too. Try to convince her to bun with some conditioner and make that costume work for her. Congrats on her first job.

What about cowashing? That way her hair is fresh every day (she'll probably sweat a lot) and it shouldn't stress her hair. She could cowash when she gets in from work and air dry overnight...do braid outs even.

Unfortunately her hair/scalp is going to sweat underneath that sauna of a costume regardless of what style she does to it. Lol. If she's cool with wearing her natural hair (not pressed or flat ironed all summer) I'd just say wear a scarf or something over a bun or other ps. I say treat it like she was working out everyday cuz that's what it'll probably feel like. Maybe even put in some conditioner some days she is prepared to cowash so she could sneak in a homemade steam treatment. :)

I guess I don't understand why anyone would wash and iron hair daily if they were going to be performing in a hot costume. That's why professional entertainers wear wigs or weaves to protect their own hair. But I don't think a weave is necessary for a teenager who performs in a theme park. That sounds kind of hot and cumbersome as well. Search some hair blogs or youtube. If you can find some pictures or video of nice looking braided up and buns to show her she'll probably change her mind.

I would be easier for her to stop heat straightening her hair for the summer and wear, buns and french braids instead. There's no problem with her cowashing or just water rinsing her hair at work then bunning to put on her costume. Heck she could even slap on a leave in deep conditioner and use her work time as a "hair spa" for the summer.

I would suggest 1 or 2 french braids and since she has the length, it would still look cute when she takes off the costume. Or like others have mentioned, a bun.. Or even 1 or 2 ponytails plaited at the ends.

Box braids with her own hair.

This is exactly what I was thinking.
Her scalp will be exposed so she won't be too hot. Her hair is long enough to bun it in the braids. AND if she has to wash/wet it everyday, box braids with her own hair is the way to go.

Tell her she's got to do what she's gotta do if she wants to make that money!:lachen:

Besides, on her days off, she could take the braids down and rock a gorgeous braidout. It's a win/win!

she just want to look cute for the boys at the park trust me i work at a park before lol with that long hair slap a ps on that mug lol

braidouts, twistouts, or buns sound good.
Let her decide though since she's 17. She's going to have to start caring for her it herself soon anyway.
