I'm about to wig it up to get from APL to BSL. I used lace fronts 2 years ago while transitioning. This time I'm undecided on what type to get.
Can you tell me your preferences and why?

1) Remy body wave

2) Virgin Indian

3) light yaki

I would like to be able to get body and some lift in the hair. I like the body wave option to get instant curls.

I like the virgin hair because it's less processed and may look more natural. I'm not sure how it will hold curls and how best to curl it.

I like the light yaki because I've seen people have them looking soooooo good I can't believe it. Are these hard to curl? What is the best way to curl them?

Any thoughts suggestions or photos?

thanks

I'm a fan a light yaki cause it looks more natural. I'm thinking about getting another one. I have two questions for you, what method do you use to attach yours and how often do you reapply?
Thanks!

Back when I was transitioning I used tape and glue to apply. This time I plan to try applying with just pins so I can take it of when I sleep. If I can't get that to work I will just use tape in the front.

Do you curl your light yaki? Do you use a curling iron and how long do the curls last?

I usually get light yaky because it resembles AA hair but I find that it doesn't hold a curl very well. I heard that virgin curls beautifully but isn't as natural looking compared to light yaky. HTH

So do you curl your light yaki at all? If so how long do the curls hold up? My own hair does not hold curls longer than an hr. :(

I tried a BS synthetic and it had some lovely curls. If they would only last longer than a month. :wallbash:

Good thread op

OP do you think that BSS half wigs are not good for transitioning then i.e. bc they do not last long?

ETA: Also is it ok to wear lace front without glue or tape? (I have weak edges)

I used remy LFs from China to transition 2 years ago. At the time I didn't know about BSS half wigs.

I figure I save quite a bit by not getting relaxers anymore but replacing a BSS wig every month can add up too.

As far as application I used glue while I was tranisition but this time I will try to apply without gule or tape. At the time i think I needed glue, tape, or something strong because my hair started getting bulky under there. I keep my hair pressed now so I will see if I can get away with just wrapping my hair and using pins to secure.

You know, I just realized a benefit to BSS wigs is that you can experiment with styles to see what look is best for you. I'm stuck now because I cant decided which type not being able to see the diff hair.

Yes, I curl it but I mostly flat iron it. Just curling it under is fine, but barrel curls are a no no, they only last about 3-4hrs.

Does virgin hair look good on you? I wear Italian yaki bc I think it resembles ethnic hair.
I used to not attach my units when I was lazy. I would bobby pin and use a headband. Now I sew it on for security. Attach the front. And Bobby pin the back.

I have curled it with a plug in iron but the curls don't last as long. I usually wear it bumped under.

HTH!
