okay well I found out all the answers to my questions today...and for posteriety. When getting twists don't let the braider put your hair to the ends and then dip them in hot water...it will split them. Also be very careful about the hair you use...get some reccomendations b/c the cheap kinky hair is terrible it will tangle and be a B**#* to take out. And just as starting point do NOT use a brand called Naffy. I should have known it would tangle it's just two letters away from nappy.

i used baby buttercreme to moisturize my sister's coarse 4b hair before doing her kinky twists...it was like gold in a jar. i scraped that thing clean.

janet is a popular brand of marley braid but it is hard. my sister called it monster hair. yes it is the one in my sig but i think i will search for femi or bohyme. also i read in various fotkis that using the afro twist bulk hair is better so maybe i will get that if i cant find a softer brand of hair.
