Hola Mujeres.

I just put a tutorial in my photo album on how to make a kinky donut bun. Since I am texlaxed I am always trying to think of creative ways to enhance my hair while matching my texture.

Here is what I did

1. Take an old black sock or two and cut off the bottom/toe of the sock(s)
2. Roll the sock(s) into the shape/form of a donut
3. Use Synthetic Kinky twist hair and wrap it around the donut. Since it is so Kinky it wraps around itself and stays. You just tuck in the ends at the beginning and at the end of wrapping. You can also use weaving thread and needle to secure further.
4. The end result is a kinky donut ballet bun filler.
5. Place your hair in a ponytail using an ouchless elastic hair band.
6. Place the kinky donut bun over the ponytail, your hair should be sticking through the hole in the middle.
7. Fan your hair around the kinky donut bun and secure with a goodies hair elastic.
8. For a neat and classic look, finish it off with about six bobby pins. Pinning your hair and the bun to your head. - Be Gentle.

I hope this helps:)

That's a great and creative idea  .

I am natural and I love to wear different styles but it is hard as heck to find already made pieces that look like my natural hair. I just bought some of that Marley hair ,thinking I was gonna try two-strand twisting my own hair (not a good idea :( )

As soon as I finish wasting time on the net , I will try this, it will probably look good made into that double bun too for special occasions and for doing the baggie method. Thanx for sharing.

I remember reading this post when it first came out—it’s actually how I learned to do a bun. Back then, I had just reentered the workforce after nearly three years of unemployment. Going natural wasn’t a choice; it was a necessity. Fast forward 18 years, and life looks very different. I’m now the sole caregiver for my mom.

This weekend is a big one—my younger brother is visiting with his wife, and we’ll be meeting her for the first time. I really wanted Mom’s hair to look nice, so I arranged for someone to come braid it. Unfortunately, my usual braider couldn’t make it and sent a backup—a teenager. But of course, today is Friday and Halloween. About 20 minutes before she was supposed to arrive, she called with an emergency and canceled. I panicked. I don’t know how to braid—I only know how to do my own hair.

Then it hit me: I remembered what I learned from this very post. I quickly placed an Instacart order from Walmart for a hair donut, but they were out of her color—she’s grey now. No problem. I had some braiding hair extensions that matched perfectly. I wrapped the donut with the extensions, then did what I know best: blow dry and flat iron. And just like that, Mom has a flawless bun. Tomorrow, I won’t be stressing. Her hair will be absolutely perfect.

Every hair skill I have today, I owe to this forum. I’ve spent days, weeks, even years practicing and refining what I’ve learned here. Thanks to the incredible women who’ve shared their wisdom and techniques, I’m now able to care for my mom’s hair with confidence. I’ve got this—and it’s all because of you

Thank you all! I know most do not come on the forum anymore. But I will always the sisterhood that was in this forum during the early 2000s to let 2010s.
