Anyone used this? What are you thoughts/opinons and tips on this product?

I just bought some and I am about to use it and I am curious to see opinions/reviews on this product.

Are there any other product in the same category that you think may be better?

well im prob going to be the only one that hated it:ohwell::duck::duck: i bought a 2oz sample which covered HALF of my head i have alot of hair
it still didnt lay down my roots they were puffy not to mention my hair was CRISPY CRUNCHY whereas ecostyler i could use a whole 32oz tub and still not get hard hair
the only tip i can think of is using a leave in with it because as far as moisture is concerned i dont think it provides much
kccc is know not to play well with others so if you do need a leave in besides knot today im guessing its going to be trial and error to find one that is suitable

Everyone has used this lol! Kidding! This is a staple for me - I love it for twist-outs but I do not follow the directions. I do not use it for wash and go's because I prefer Donna Marie's Miracurl Gelly for those. I use it on freshly washed hair or co-washed hair. I slather on the kccc in sections and smooth SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie over top and twist...I end up with about 8-10 twists on each side (my hair is really thick) and I let it dry over night. The next morning I am left with the softest, most defined twist-out. I feel like a lot of curl creams give me different looks so I just can't recommend one over the other. Its just a matter of trying them out and seeing what works for the look you are going for.

I hated it at first. But I found out my hair loves glycerin. So on dry hair, I spray my hair with a water/glycerin mix, apply KCCC to sections and two strand twists. Makes the best twists and I can wear a twists out, without retwisting for at least a week.

I don't have WNG hair. Don't do anyting on wet hair so no feedback on that. And I haven't used ecostyler to do a comparison. I may try the ecostyler first before I repurchase the KCCC.

Found out it wasn't the product, but I had to use it a certain way for my hair.

I may be one of the few people who still hasn't tried the stuff. When I first went natural I was all about defined hair and thought that was the most important thing in the world. I considered buying it then, but I tried Ecostyler & Aloe vera gel and discovered both of those worked fine for me and were inexpensive. Anyway, I hope KCCC works for you!!!

I agree that Youtube is AMAZING for KCCC reviews, I would say possibly the most reviewed product! I used this for twist outs and went through almost half the bottle before finally finding the best way to use for my hair. I learned you have to be very careful with how much you use because it left my hair crunchy very easily! I did not like it with Knot Today, both used together left my hair very crunchy. I also am a 4a with thick hair and defined coils but could not use KCCC for a wash and go, my hair always had major shrinkage. For the price, I found that the Eco Styler worked just as well, and lasted longer since you get more.

I bought this along with the Come Clean and Knot Today Kinky Curly products. Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like they're any more special than some other things I use that were much cheaper. The only thing I really like about the Curling Custard is that the ingredients made it more suitable for usage during winter compared to other things I've used. Otherwise, I keep all of the products stored on my shelf as back ups for when I run out of my usual shampoo, conditioner, or shea butter.

OP you should give it a try and see how you like it. If you don't like it then swap it on the forum. Personally I love KCCC but not all women on here feel that way about it. If you are unsure of how to apply it and use it then you could check out youtube for some reviews and tutorials. But in the end do what's best for your hair. If it means another product and not KCCC that's fine.

I know some of the not so positive reviews I saw of it online had me not trying it for over a year. And turns out my hair loves it.

I flove KCCC! For me nothing else gives the combo of softness , definition , and volume. And I get 3+ day hair! I don't use KCKT but instead V05 strawberries and cream. I also love the KC gloss pomade. I just rake the KCCC through my wet hair- no fancy sectioning or shingling - and diffuse. I probably use a about 4 quarter size sections for my entire head. I have fine but dense 4a hair that is creeping on BSL when stretched.

My hair got super curly with this, so this did the best for me in terms of curl definition; however, it made my hair feel weird, sort of sticky, and dry. I wouldn't use this every day. I'd save it for certain occasions. I probably won't buy it again. I like knot today for detangling.

I use KCCC with KT and I love it. Prior to my purchase I watched several YT videos about application. IMO, there are no set formulas on how to use it. I have the Come Clean shampoo but I now prefer using Shea Moisture's coconut & Hibiscus shampoo prior to my KT + KC application.

If I it wasn't for KC I wouldn't have been able to rock my curly fro this winter without some type of hair trauma. It prevents my hair from drying out. Plus, my style lasts about a week with just a few spritzs of distilled water a day. Sometimes, I apply dabs of cheapo conditioner here and there cause I like to conserve my KT for wash/style day only.

KC makes my hair shrink up alot more than Ecostyler. That is my only con, I love the definition though.

KCCC is my go to product and has been for years. It is my 'base' for all other products. In other words, if I'm using any other gel type of product, I use KCCC beneath it. I know many find it dries with a crunchy finish. I am personally one of the very few who seeks 'crunch'. It is the only way I have any hope of attaining second day hair. It scrunches out very easily and I am left with soft, fluffy defined curls. For yesterday's wash n go I paired it with Garnier Fructis Pure Clean gel and today I have full, fluffy, yet defined second day hair with zero frizz.

This isn't the best picture, but you get a general idea :yep:

When you say how to use it, what did you learn? How do you apply it to your hair?
I do not apply the way the maker of the product does in the video:nono:. The first time I did that my hair came out rock hard and shrunk up to my ears. It was flat and lifeless, I was soooo mad. Worst hair ever.

From watching yt videos I learned to scrunch a small amount of product in. Who would think application technique would make such a huge difference. Also when my hair is 90% to fully dry I spray my hair with a oil based heat protectant and use the blow dryer to scrunch out any crunch I may have. This gives my hair lots more volume and the curls turn out very soft but defined.

I got the idea to try this application from TheCurlyFitChic on youtube.
