Hi everyone,

I just ordered this product because I've heard some good things about it. I'm just not sure how it's meant to be used. Is it used on wet hair (maybe putting a little on each piece during a roller set), or as an everyday 'moisturizer'. Or maybe it can be used both ways???

I love Kiehl's Crème with Silk Groom! /images/graemlins/up.gif It can be used on wet hair or as a daily moisturizer. Work with it each way, and see how your hair responds to it best. I used it on my hair when wet (but very seldom), and I use it as a moisturizer but not a daily moisturizer. I like it best as a moisturizer. It's kind of heavy, but my hair likes it heavy. /images/graemlins/look.gif

Lindy, this stuff is great. I have to thank Allandra for this discovery, because her raves prompted me to buy it. I never used it on wet hair but it probably works really great. I used it as a daily moisturizer - since I have4a/4b hair that tends to be dry, it works well for daily use. Hope you like it!!

Uh oh... it's heavy?? I hope it doesn't weigh my hair down too much. My hair is really fine, and it cannot take too much oil or grease without getting that 'see-thru' look...

Thanks for the info, Allandra & Kit Kat. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Do you wear your hair down a lot? If so, you can always use it when you wear your hair up (or in any other protective style), if it's too heavy for your hair when you wear it down.

I would say I wear my hair down about 50% of the time. I'm going to experiment with it and see how it goes. I didn't know they had a lite version!! I didn't even notice it on the website. Shucks, if I had known, I probably would have ordered that one... /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

Has anyone tried it??? I actually asked for a sample of the heavier version /images/graemlins/frown.gif That one might end up being good for my twist-outs though... Hmm. The silk groom might be good for that too, huh??? /images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif

Hi Lindy, /images/graemlins/wave.gif I've tried both the creme with silk groom and the Shine n' lite groom. The silk groom was too heavy for my hair. It's 4a with some 3c and it's not thick or fine. It did give a nice gloss, but weighed it down /images/graemlins/frown.gif.
I didn't think the lite groom was much lighter (I used that on wet hair) and it left my hair feeling coated after two days. Hope this helps.

Lindy, I too use the silk groom. I too have fine hair and it doesn't weigh my hair down. I should mention though that I use it after I have blowdryed my hair. whenever I use a blowdryer, my hair is much thicker looking than when I do a rollerset. HTH

Hello Lindy!

I have Kiehls Silk Groom and only use it in two ways: 1. On wet hair just before a rollarset. It make the hair come out feeling softer and less dry. It doesn't weigh my hair down. I'm 3c. 2. I use it during the summer when wearing the hair curly sometimes. I run it through wet hair then use a curling styling product after. The Kiehls stops the hair from frizzing as it dries.

I'm on my second bottle of this stuff now. I've not used it on dry hair.

The UPS guy delivered my Kiehls last night!!! I can't wait to try it... /images/graemlins/trampoline.gif

May I ask where did you order your Kiehls from? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Kimmil, /images/graemlins/wave.gif
You can order Kiehl's from The Kiehl's Website . Their prices are the same as the prices in the stores that carry it. HTH.

Yes Kimmil,

I ordered it from the Kiehls website!! I took a look at it; it really is thick. It looks like a conditioner. I was thinking it was more of an everyday hairdress. It says on the bottle to use it on wet hair, so that's what I'll do. On my next roller set I plan to put a little on each piece.

I took alook at the website very impressive I like natural products..I live in Oakland CA (GO RAIDERS) and we don't have any thing (that I know of) like this on this side of town. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, I've used Kiehl's Silk Groom since the mid 1980's and I've used it both ways: on wet and dry hair.

I like it better on wet hair. I put some in the palm of my hand and usually mix with WGO, then rub it into all of my hair before rollersetting. It doesn't leave my hair greasy and doesn't weight it down as long as I don't overdo it.

On dry hair, I use to use it mostly when I was natural and had my hair pressed. I would use A LITTLE everynight before braiding my hair concentrating on the ends. It didn't frizz my hair.

BTW, Kiehl's products ARE NOT all natural. If you read the ingredient lists, you will find that a lot of the products contain chemicals. Some of their products even have misleading labels, e.g. I used to use their "Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser" only to find out later that it did contain a detergent and a harsh one at that!

Don't get me wrong, I still like their products, but they aren't really all natural like Aubrey's Organics.
