kiddie perms

I was wondering what are the gentlest childrens relaxers? I have tried motions for kids and it broke my hair. Also, any suggestions on regular relaxers that are super mild? What does everyone think about old school tcb lye mild?

I don't know if this is true, but I read that kiddie perms are no more gentle than regular relaxers. I think it was on ourhair.

I'll check and see if I can bring up a source.

I was using kiddie perms when my hair started breaking...you're better off with a mild 'lye' conditioner. When I first started coming online...I remember reading that kiddie perms were actually hard on your hair...

Motions Oil relaxer in mild never got my hair bone straight, so I figured it was pretty gentle...

I have never used these brands, but I've read on various boards that they are very gentle:

Elucence ( found here )
PhytoSpecific Phytorelaxer (from Hair Boutique )
Lady Velvet
TCB Bone Straight
Dark & Lovely Beautiful Beginnings
Couzzette (only available through mail order--check out diamoness' posts in this thread )

I've used motions lye in mild and it was too harsh and burned my scalp. im thinking of trying beautiful beginnings for fine hair. my hair is very thick 3bc and my scalp is also super sensitive.

thanks 4 the advice /images/graemlins/smile.gif

In my opinion Beautiful Beginnings is a very gentle relaxer. My mother can apply it to my hair without using gloves.
