Keratin Treatment Results

Forever in Bloom

Got my first keratin treatment on March 12th and washed my hair on March 30th. Eeew! It still looked good, but felt dirty! Plus, I haven't been working out as intensely as I normally do for fear that my style won't last.

Coppola Keratin Complex was the brand used

I posted in the keratin support thread that I would post pics, but my stylist just forwarded them to me today. Sorry! I don't want to be branded one of those people who keeps saying they'll post pics and never do. So...here they are!

I took this bad pic of what my hair looked like after washing, but it's the best I could do

It's crazy because the waviness is uniform throughout my head. Styling my hair is so much easier. The comb just glides through. My hair is in twists and I know it'll revert within the time frame she gave me (3-5 months) If not, that doesn't matter. It's healthier than it's ever been. I did a 10 day search and destroy on my ends and this is what I got

In the end, it was all worth it. I've decided to use Carol's Daughter Monoi line for the next 3 months. I used to diss it, but it works like a charm. I used to switch products up so much that I believe that doing so caused so many splits and knots.

My next goal: waist length!!

Your hair is simply stunning! :gorgeous:

I'm not clear on the hair in your hand. You did a 10 day S&D on hair that was just trimmed at the salon?

Good question. My coworker asked me the same thing. When my stylist trimmed my hair, she cut straight across. Considering the fact that all of our hairs on our head are not the same length, you do kinda have to go back in and attack those hairs. I wish you could see them up close. They're gross! I didn't lose any more length if that's what you're wondering.

Some people abhor S & D sessions; however, I love them! It feels good to cut raggedy ends and splits. I watched a couple of seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (more like listened to) as I did it. I put the scissors down to spend time with the boyfriend though - he knows how I am about my hair, but he knows he is first on my list when it comes to care and maintenance

Stunning shiny and beautiful hair......How did you go from SL to MBL by so quickly. J/K i love your results, keep taking care of that gorgeous mane.

yessss this thread has me sold!!! OP does the brand you used have formaldehyde??
sharifeh No ma'am :) We discussed using this new one that Coppola just came out with - it had salicylic acid in it, but we decided that I wanted to lessen the frizz and not the curl so much. But surprise! It did both. The only problem I encountered was when my stylist got to the front of my head. I could smell something strong. The hair that already had the solution applied to it when she flipped it over my forehead made my left eye tingle, but then it went away immediately when I pushed it back.

ETA: I meant glycolic acid

I had the same thing done to my hair last week. She used the coppola keratin express blowout, but she only did 3 passes as I just wanted less frizz but keep my curl pattern. Your hair looks great.

Your hair looks beautiful OP. I love it both natural and straight.
I am falling in love with the search and destroy method. Even though i trim my hair in small individual sections, i still go back to look for those splits that might be a little further down the strand, and for those strands that are a bit shorter than the rest. For example, last trim i took out 1/2 inch all over. But during my S & D i encountered a couple of midshaft splits that were about 1 inch long. They were not enough for me to consider an additional all over trim, cause most of the strands were intact. So it was like a clean up after the trim.
Ever since then i do mini S&d sessions every week before wash day.
