I wanted to start a new thread. I said I was getting BKT in the other thread but it was actually Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy by Coppola.
I have pics in my siggy, on my blog, and in my fotki. If you're curious about it, I have answered many questions on my blog. LINKS IN MY SIGGY.
I did it because I wanted to show women other options besides relaxers. Relaxers are permanent (or at least until your hair grows out). This keratin washes out after 3-5 months depending on how much you wash and the tightness of your curls. Unlike relaxers you don't have to keep getting it over and over again. You can decide at any time you don't want to do it anymore. Everytime it is applied it is applied from root to tip.
I think some people go natural and want a change and go back to relaxers and end up not liking their hair with the relaxer and end up BC'ing. With this treatment your hair gets straighter when you straighten and less frizzy when you wear it in a natural state. So you get the best of both worlds.
I'm only on Day 3 so I can't say if I like it or not. I'm not recommending it or not not recommending it. Just sharing my experience. Right now it just looks like a regular blowout. I am super anxious to see what my hair looks like with a rollerset and then in a natural state. I'm like 95% sure that I'm just going to have reduced frizz and maybe looser curls for the next 3-5 months until it is washed away.
It's not natural or organic like the company is suggesting. In fact, you have to be a stylist to even get the ingredients. My advice ASK QUESTIONS ASK QUESTIONS ASK QUESTIONS. Make sure your stylist shows you the ingredients and make sure all your questions are answered before doing anything.
I don't know if I will ever get it done again because of the chemicals but through my research and interviews I came to the conclusion that there was no harm in just trying it once.
That's that.
