Only step I didn't do was condition.

I basically just washed my hair, rinsed that out, added the K18, let that sit for 4 minutes then after that molded my hair down with Nairobi foam and sat under hood dryer to dry.
Yes, I understand. Just after using it for a couple of years I think it needs extra steps especially if the initial 5 treatments haven't been completed. I still condition unless I'm just air drying and twisting up.

For those who did the first 6 treatments consecutively: Did you do them once per week or more than once a week? I’m considering adding a second wash day and doing this for 3 weeks instead of 6. I wonder if there is a benefit to having the treatments in a shorter duration vs stretched over 6 weeks.

I did them every time I shampooed which varied but which was usually every 7 to 10 days. I dont think it would be a problem doing it twice a week. The original instructions were 5 to 6 washes and not weeks. So those with naturally straight hair were probably washing every 1 to 3 days anyway.

I did mine over 2 months. And I noticed some difference on the 4th use and a noticeable difference on the 6th. I think I've been using it 2 to 3 years now.

When I first read the instructions, I thought that they probably had naturally straight haired people in mind who wash their hair 5-6 times per week. So the intent was to have the first 6 treatments done within a week or 2, not in 2 months. 6-8 weeks is enough time to accumulate more damage as it’s repairing damage. I’ve read a lot of rave reviews from… white people, but not a lot from us. And im wondering if the difference in the WOW factor is the major difference in time between the 1st and 6th treatment.

Either way, I can only squeeze out maybe one extra wash a week depending on my energy levels.

Do you clarify each time you do a treatment?

I think you are supposed to use the detox shampoo every time you use the k18 mask but I only bought the mini so I’ve use other shampoos (pureology hydrate mostly). I’ve got too many shampoos to get through using

I found this post by K18:

I’m assuming again that they probably don’t have someone in mind who only washes weekly, moisturizes and seals every night, and pre-poos with oil before washing.

I have a sample packet of the detox shampoo, that I’ll test out next wash.

I think it worked fine doing it once a week. Unless you are straightening a lot or doing a lot of coloring there shouldn't be a lot of bond damage in an 8 week period. There can be mechanical damage in that time but that is a different type of damage.

I don't typically clarify before a treatment unless I plan to color my hair that month. When I color my hair I do a protein treatment, shampoo and then do K18 the week before I color.

It's great to hear you're considering going back to being relaxed and looking into ways to maintain hair health. With all the advanced products available now, you have some great options to protect and strengthen your hair.

B24 Mask: This is a more modern and budget-friendly alternative to K18. It’s designed to repair and strengthen hair from within, similar to K18.
Hope this helps! Would love to hear what others are doing too!

Is this being allowed now? @beverly @dimopoulos

I tried the K18 treatment today for the first time. I clarified with Loreal Ever Pure because that was what I had available.

I used the K-18 and then let it set about 5-6 minutes. At that point, I did get back in the shower and apply conditioner.

What I noticed so far is that my hair stayed WET. I airdry most of the time, but it should have been dry by 3:30 in the afternoon, but it wasn't.

What do you think? Did anyone have this issue? Maybe it wasn't the k18, but the Bread Mousse I used?

My hair does retain water longer. I guess I didn’t consider it an issue but a benefit.

But the mousse could have caused you hair to hold water even longer.

Do you usually use a mousse or something else?

I am a product junkie so I skip around. I use mousse alot.
So maybe retaining water could be a K18 benefit? Interesting.

K18 is a bond repairer. If the bonds of your hair are not strong, then your hair doesn't have the strength that is should but it also will not retain the moisture it should.

Repairing the bonds keeps the hair strong. It can prevent breakage. It helps the hair retain moisture. It can smooth out the hair. It can lead to using less product because the hair is healthier.

Those are possiblities. However, those who do not have issues with the bonds in their hair will probably not notice much.

Bond repair works well for those who color their hair, use chemical processes or use heat. Others can use it but it may not produce drastic results and/or they may not need to use it as often.

I color my hair so I use it monthly to prevent the ongoing damage to my strands.

Thanks! I color my hair because I is old. :) I noticed a difference when I switched from a permanent box dye to a demi permanent box dye. I'm hoping my hair will grow past armpit length with this. I used to have broken pieces and stuff when I had relaxed hair. Now I don't have any of that. But I want my hair to get longer, but it hasn't. The only thing I can imagine is that there is damage that needs to be corrected.

Oh... I hadn't used the Bread Mousse alone before. But I have used mousse. The bee girl mousse is fantastic by itself.

I feel you on coloring the hair. I plan to color this month. The week before I color, I clarify, use moisturizing shampoo and then follow up with the K18. I like to do it the week before I color. The following week I will color and just do a regular deep conditioner. Then I use the K18 once a month.

The first time I used it, I saw a little difference. But I used it as instructed and used it the first 5 or 6 times I shampooed. When I used it the fifth time, my hair was noticeably different. My curls smoothed out and from there on out my hair retained moisture. Before that it never did.

I've been trying to reach APL forever. We will see if I get there this year. August will tell the story.

I've tried using other bond treatments and Olaplex but for my hair there was no noticeable difference. K18 is the only thing I've used in the past 10 years that I saw a noticeable difference in less than 2 months of use.

I don't like paying the month but I've bought less expensive products and they did nothing so I decide to just buy a bottle a year and keep the hair on my head.
