Justice Department appeals morning-after pill ruling

(CNN) -- The Justice Department filed an appeal Wednesday over a federal judge's ruling that directed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to make emergency contraception available to females of all ages without a prescription.

The move comes one day after the FDA announced that it had approved the availability of the Plan B One-Step emergency contraception pill without a prescription for females ages 15 and older.

In April, a federal judge in Brooklyn, New York, ordered the FDA to make the morning-after birth control pill available to women of any age, without a prescription. Tuesday's FDA announcement, which pertains to an application from Teva Women's Health, Inc., is not related to that, the FDA said.

The wide availability of the morning after pill, as with all other contraception, will continue to contribute to the moral decline of society and promiscuity in general. All hormonal contraception has the potential to act as an abortifacient. If an egg becomes fertilized (ie conception) the pill prevents that fertilized egg from implanting. If you believe that life begins at conception, then this is clearly wrong.

However, these days, nothing surprises me anymore and I wouldn't be surprised if the ruling stands.

Me either Belle. I'd be surprised if the ruling is reversed. After the comments in the abortion thread I started earlier... I realized that many hearts are hardened when it comes to abortion. All or nothing.
The initial request was to offer the pill with no age limit at all. Very sad.

Any CHILD of age 15 needs her parents involved in her medical care, period. And to give her hormones that can adversely affect her health...just plain madness. I won't even address the theological aspect of all this.

We are watching hell come to earth like a freight train as men cast off restraint.... They are out to defile and corrupt society, especially the youth. Its about to be very volatile for the Christians. Lord Jesus give us the fortitude to endure til the end!

Your post immediately reminded me of this scripture:

Isaiah 1
New King James Version (NKJV)

The Wickedness of Judah

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth!
For the Lord has spoken:
“I have nourished and brought up children,
And they have rebelled against Me;
3 The ox knows its owner
And the donkey its master’s crib;
But Israel does not know,
My people do not consider.”

4 Alas, sinful nation,
A people laden with iniquity,
A brood of evildoers,
Children who are corrupters!
They have forsaken the Lord,
They have provoked to anger
The Holy One of Israel,
They have turned away backward.

5 Why should you be stricken again?
You will revolt more and more.
The whole head is sick,
And the whole heart faints.
6 From the sole of the foot even to the head,
There is no soundness in it,
But wounds and bruises and putrefying sores;
They have not been closed or bound up,
Or soothed with ointment.

7 Your country is desolate,
Your cities are burned with fire;
Strangers devour your land in your presence;
And it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 So the daughter of Zion is left as a booth in a vineyard,
As a hut in a garden of cucumbers,
As a besieged city.
9 Unless the Lord of hosts
Had left to us a very small remnant,
We would have become like Sodom,
We would have been made like Gomorrah.

10 Hear the word of the Lord,
You rulers of Sodom;
Give ear to the law of our God,
You people of Gomorrah:
11 “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?”
Says the Lord.
“I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fed cattle.
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
Or of lambs or goats.

12 “When you come to appear before Me,
Who has required this from your hand,
To trample My courts?
13 Bring no more futile sacrifices;
Incense is an abomination to Me.
The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies—
I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.
14 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts
My soul hates;
They are a trouble to Me,
I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands,
I will hide My eyes from you;
Even though you make many prayers,
I will not hear.
Your hands are full of blood.

16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Rebuke the oppressor;[a]
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.

18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword”;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Amen. Its been a long time since I read those scriptures. I'm interceding for our children, those who will be saved and the saints. The Almighty God is going to come down here and check this foolishness out like He did with Sodom and Gomorrah. When He does, woe to these wicked political leaders passing these laws defiling our children. Jesus says if you cause the little ones to stumble its better that a millstone be hung about your neck and you cast into the sea .. Jesus will be paying these people a visit very soon. They will bow before Him.

Matthew 21:44 KJV
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

I disagree. Some parents are brute. We're talking about unbelievers. They could scar that child for life. On the other hand... this whole thing is a mess. But I'm only speaking for the girls with the brute parents.

Personally, I'm against hormonal bc and pro abstinence .

Thank you will never be enough for this post. :up:

Thank you again and again. I wish somebody would tell me I have no rights to be involved with my child's medical care...and birth control?

Ummmm no; that's MY decision as a parent period, whom God has set as a guardian over to raise in His likeness and to learn to resist temptation and the evils thereof. Sex is loaded with way too many volatile consequences and I will indeed be involved and aware, because I care.

Society has nothing to offer our children but weakness and rebellion against their own souls.

I personally think that having a morning after pill that is more widely available is a good thing. Women may wish to prevent pregnancy for a variety of reasons-including rape and incest. Especially in the case of incest, going to the parents or step parents may not be an option. What about a woman in an abusive marriage? Should she be forced to have children by her abuser making it even more difficult to get out of the situation? Women desire birth control for reasons other than promiscuity. It is easy to over simplify the birth control argument. For some women the only way to prevent additional personal trauma may be the cash transaction of an over-the-counter contraceptive. Going to a physician leaves a paper trail that may be further complicate her life.
