I have been lurking here FOREVER and I spent about 10 minutes trying to think of my password so that I can start contributing. This is a very helpful and supportive forum. Keep up the good work! You ladies are growing some fabulous hair.
I had a relaxer for 10 years and it was quite healthy and long because I rarely used heat. It was kind of boring though because I wore a ponytail most of the time and I look (and feel) better with “big” hair.
So, now I’m natural—did the big chop in Oct 2002 to less than 1 inch—and have 6-7 inches of healthy and very moisturized hair now. I am 4ab, spongy and cottony, with medium/fine/and a few coarse strands and my hair is dense. Hopefully, I will get a digital camera soon so I can start an album.
I have been incorporating some of the ideas that you ladies talk about like:
-distilled water misting
-vaseline on ends
-UBH hair lotion moisturizer (works fabulously under unrefined shea butter for me)
-2x/week shampooing in winter and daily wetting in summer
-vits (hard to remember)
-protective styling
