I use the food grade aloe vera gel from the health food store and keep it refrigerated. I add mine to my Shikakai powder and steam it in.

Great stuff and it really moisturizes my ends.

Why oh WHY did I come in this thread? And just when I thought I had my regimen on lock.

But tell me ladies...does aloe gel/juice work well on relaxed hair as a pre-poo? Leave in moisturizer?

My hair is relaxed and I prepoo twice a week and my hair does wonderfully. I also spray my hair every evening with my aloe vera mix before I apply my oils and the next morning my hair is moist and soft.

Please explain, how do you do this. I have a professional steamer. Anything that can preserve hair ends is good to know.

I pre oil my hair with amla oil or whatever oil I have in my stash.

I mix a 100g box of amla or shikakai or neem powder with 1/2 cup of aloe vera juice or gel and 1/2 cup of water or rosewater. Stir into a paste and then apply the "mud" to my hair and sit under the steamer for 30 minutes.

Let my hair cool down and then co wash and style.

Thank you for this. I am becoming cuckoo for aloe vera because it has so many benefits, not just hair health, but overall health. I will be trying this. I will keep you posted.

Food grade aloe vera is really good for you. I know it is excellent for your digestive system.
