i just permed my hair at home with optium, should i deep condition?

Yes Sweetie. You should have done a light protein treatment like aphogee 2 min before the neutralizer. Neutralize. Then DC with a moisturizing DC.

Hope that help :)

I always did. I just think it makes the hair happier. I would use a balanced protein/moisture mix, and add some PC to it. HTH! I'm sure others can chime in with specific product suggestions.

Cosigning with Everyone.

Yes you should DC because I notice the neutralizing poo is drying. But does every DC with heat or without it?

you mean do aphoogee before you neutralize? as in wash relaxer out with water then aphoogee and then neutralize?

Yes... I always do it like that... I'd DC with heat after the neutralizer as well:yep:

I never tried that before, but it does sound interesting, I'll give it a try ;)

I use a protein conditioner before neutralizing but I think that I am the only person who doesn't dc when I touch up. I cowash after I neutralize and don't have any issues with drying. But I am a conditioner head so maybe that's why this works ok for me.

Typically, when you are faced with a question of to DC or not, most of the time, you should DC (unless your hair is over moisturized).

Definitely. I would get in the habit of doing this with every touch-up. :yep:

Come on now 31 posts and you haven't figured out how important deep conditioning can be? haha
But now you know, it would make sense to DC right because your hair is very porous and it can take up the moisture right?
