Just how fishy is SAA?

Does it just smell like silk? I knit with silk a lot and it does have a certain smell to it, especially when wet.

It has a very slight funky smell to it. You can only really smell it if you really put your nose up in there. :)

It's not bad at all, you can't even really smell it.

i think it smells terrible. and very fishy embarassing fishy. I put to much in my spray bottle and i was so embarassed in the van going to work. We have a van pick us up at the parking lot and take us to the building and it was stinking in there with my SAA I had to stop using it until I add some EO to it. so don't put to much in. Otherwise its not so bad.

You know I thought it was me, no really I thought it was me. Whenever I wear silk, especially raw silk, there would be this smell - guys, I thought it was me. Thank God for this thread - I thought that I might need a prescription funk guard or something.

Is everyone using lotioncrafter's SAA?

:perplexed

It doesn't smell strong at all to me.

I also don't put it in anyting that I leave in, just conditioners and relaxers.

I think it's a very very faint smell - more intense if your hair is damp. Not gag worthy at all.....

who's here saying this stuff doesn't stink? yall must be using some magic SAA, not the stuff from lotioncrafters.com :barf:

oh my goodness. i spilled a little on my hand when i was filling up a capful, and it was foul. it smells like a mix of old dead fish, and hot sweaty a$$. and if i add more than 2 capfuls to anything, the smell comes out in the product.

lol, I must have gotten a good batch then.

Mine isn't strong... smells a little like B.O though.

I normally have a sensitive sense of smell. I find Boundless Tresses (scented and unscented) very hard to use while most others don't have a problem with the smell.

And I use tablespoons at a time too... wierd.

I am so glad I caught this thread! A few days ago, I thought I smelled something fishy in my car. I thought it was me. Now, I see it must have been the SAA in the CHI Silk Infusion. CHI has a strong smell (probably to mask the fishy-ness), so I never noticed/smelled anything else. However, me hair got slightly damp in the rain and VOILA! Sleeping with the fishies! I probably applied too much during my rollerset. I will be careful next time when using products with SAA. Do not use too much.

He he! I doused my hair in SAA on Saturday before relaxing it. I stank and my OH could easily smell it too. Luckily the smell of the relaxer and my vinegar rinse outstank the fishy odour

I think it was worth it though. My midlengths and ends are lovely and soft, which never happens to me just after a relaxer. My new growth is really underprocessed though so maybe the silk was just too much opposition for the lye?

Something must be wrong with mine (or me) I don't really smell it. But then again, I don't use much of it.
