JUST DOESNT BELIEVE

IS THERE ANYONE CLOSE TO YOU, THAT JUST DOESNT BELIEVE THAT YOU'LL MAKE YOUR HAIR GOALS?

OR

IS THERE ANYONE THAT YOU'VE PROVEN WRONG ABOUT YOUR ABILITY TO GROW YOUR HAIR TO A HEALTHY CONDITION?

Sure was. Me.

Once I started to really believe in what I was doing and why I began to see real results. At first I was embarrassed and didn't want to share what I was doing w/ anyone because, hey, what if it didn't work and I have bald-headed genes, right?

I'm so happy with my results thus far that I don't give a rat's arse about what anyone else thinks (especially if that hair ain't swangin').

YOUR HARD WORK HAS DEF PAYED OFF, BECAUSE YOUR HAIR LOOKS GREAT:D

Thanks again, girl. I don't know if you've been lurking for a long time or just joined but PLEASE stick with it. You will reach your goals!

THANKS ALOT. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO REMAIN AS CONSISTENT AS POSSIBLE. HOPEFULLY I WILL GET GOOD RESULTS BY THE END OF THIS YEAR, I'M KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED:)

I do know people who always tell me that airdrying will break my hair off. It has definitely helped me retain length, esp since i can't take the heat on my scalp. Then again, i do have people who tell me that my hair has grown so at least i know i'm doing something right.

My husband was the most discouraging and it was very hurtful because he would make comments that made me feel bad. I know he didn't mean it in a bad way but now he is seeing that my hair can grow. I am always proving him wrong though, and I can't wait to say I told you so:grin:

Oh definitely...especially about growing my hair to my waist. You hear negative statements like " That's too much hair, are you sure you want to do that, and yeah right, Black girls can't grow their hair that long!" But you can' t tell everyone your dreams. So I keep it to myself and only share it on here and with my parents and siblings. Everyone else will see pretty soon;)!

my mother believes in me 100%...she thinks I'll make midback by this time next year, I ain't even THAT confident ...my cousins believe that my hair will grow long because they saw how much length I retained in 6 months....I don't tell other people though....hell, other people (like at my school) have never even seen my hair...

My husband has been very supportive, HOWEVER, he still doesn't believe Black people can have long hair without being "mixed". :nono:  So he bet me $500 that my hair couldn't get to BSL by Christmas.

  ...My husband is also supportive and believes I can get to BSL, however, he feels that I will get bored with this and move on to another project. We made a bet that if I continue my BSL goal he would buy me a LV duffel bag. If I lose, I would have to pay his car insurance for 2 months. BSL here I come!!

Sadly, I do. I shared with someone in my social circle that I was trying to grow my daughters hair to back length. She knew that a month ago I was frantic about my daughters hair woes until I found this site. Now my daughters hair is healthy and thriving and might I add in less than a month of properly caring for it. Well she had the audacity to say to me that because of her hair texture it probably wont grow that long:mad: . Now you know I cant wait to prove her wrong.

My family did not believe that I would be able to transition to natural, much less actually BC!!! They just knew I loved my long SWANGIN' hair

BUT now I'm not sure if they were actually just giving me a lesson in reverse psychology ....HMMMMM

Your hair is very shiny and healthy looking, so you're on the right track!

I know exactly how you feel me and my fiance met 6 and 1/2 years ago and my hair has always been short (neck length). I started TRYING to grow my hair about a year or so ago but I could not because I did not have the knowledge that I have now, Thanks Ladies ;) . So judging by his facial expressions when I tell him my goal I don't think he believes in me but its cool though. I can't wait to prove myself right :) . I am really seeing an improvement in my hair and it is giving me hope.

actually everyone i told said it wasnt going to happen. my hair was at bra-strap length and i told one of my friends i wanted waist length hair for my wedding she said "well you ARE black so seriously dont think your not" basically saying to me because i am black all i can count on his bra-strap and that waist length is out of the question. even my mother told me she really doesnt think i can grow my hair out that long but she said go ahead and try...

when i saw my friend a few weeks ago she was like "WOW you hair is getting longer.... what have you been doing to it" and she commented on how i probably can have full thick waistlength hair, because now i consider it to be "barely" waistlength.

A lot of my family is very skeptical about me growing out my hair. I think they will see my growth and know that what i am doing is working...

They might as well hand over the goods now.
After you ladies reach BSL or BSL+, why not rubb it in, up the anty and make the stakes higher, more $$$ or lux gift if you make Mid back, against what they want if you don't make it.

Before this board, I thought my hair had reached its terminal length and that I would be stuck at neck length for the rest of my life. After I took control of my hair, I learned that is was just damaged. I look back on my pics of elementary and middle school and my hair was short. Every time I got is done, she would cut it. Between cuts and bad care my hair never got a chance. It wasn't until last year that I thought I could grow some hair. I was getting a wash and set every week by a lady who overall, does a good job. My hair took off. I decided to start doing it myself. I had two set backs this past year and I cut off 3-4 inches each time. Even with both cuts, I still ended the year longer than when I started. Because of this, I believe that if someone takes care of their hair, they can grow it long. I don't belive that everyone will get to waist length but I do think that everyone with care and consistency can grow their hair to atleast APL. I hope to be about there by the end of the year.

See that you can't attitude is all around and people don't even realize how mean and negative they can be. so now that your kissing WSL they believe, thanks for the support, that's why nobody but my mother and you ladies here on the boards know my goals, other people I don't tell, they don't even notice.
You know people never beleive you can do somthing they can't until you show them.

:( :(

Recently my own BF said about my hair "I am beginning to think you will never reach your goals."

He said that after I got braids for a protective style and removed them after 3 weeks and then a week after that got a sew-in and removed that after 3 days. I cannot believe he said that. But, it did not bother me that much because I always move on, but DANG - he did not have to say that!

I think I'm my own worst critic so I don't really have much room to worry about other peoples negativity. Also so far I've kept silent about my hair goals the only people who know are myself and you guys.

My mother didn't believe my hair would stay on my head if I wet/co-washed it daily. She believes now. :smirk: I didn't share my overall goal with anyone.

Louis V.? $500? For reaching a hair goal?

LHCF, there you have it.

That is why Mango387 needs a HUSBAND!

Just kidding.

My mom and sisters are the only ones I really discuss it with and they go back and forth being on the bandwagon and trying to steal my"good" cons to saying I'm crazy and hair obsessed.
