I was just thinking about this for the people who take Biotin or other suppliments that change the diameter, strength or texture of your hair.

Let's say someone is taking Biotin for four months and then for some reason stops taking them for the next four months. Well, the hair that was growing while taking Biotin would be (hopefully) thicker than the hair that was not on the Biotin. This can be applied to MSM which has been known to make the texture less curly or kinky and there are probably some other minerals that apply.

I'm typing all of this to say that we often talk about the demarcation line or how your hair textures can be weak between touch-up applications with relaxed heads. But this also can apply for relaxed or natural ladies who use minerals for their hair and body. If you start off with one thickness and then stop and start again, then that would be alot of change in texture and could cause your hair to be weaker between those points of going on and off vitamins. This could be a reason why some people have breakage and we can't pin point the reason cause' everything else they seem to be doing is right.

Example: ___ ___ _________
So, to say all of this I want to remind people to make sure they are consistent when they take vitamins or at least be very careful when manipulating your hair because of the switch in hair textures.

This is soooo true for me! I can pull out a hair strand and look at it and it goes from thick to thin to thick to thin again. I'm not consistent with supplements at all! I really need to try harder.

Not just to mention the continual change in hair texture but also what it does to the body.

If you can, try to stick to a consistent regimen that you can follow for the rest of your life. For me, I can only deal with taking a hair vitamin and MSM pill. Some people take 50 gazillion pills and I'm not knocking that, but is that seriously something that can be done for the rest of your life? It's just like a diet. If it is something you can't see yourself doing for the rest of your life, then it probably isn't something you should do.

But they have so many vitamins with combinations now-a-days that the days of taking 50 minerals should be over.

As far as I'm aware this is the normal shape of black hair. Going from thick to thin. This is what makes black hair so delicate, as it has so many weak (thin) spots along the hair shaft. So I'm not too sure it's anything to do with any supplements you're taking.

My hair isn't shaped like that.

I totally get what your saying :yep:

its probably worse with mega dosing causing dramatic changes and then stopping etc

I believe that if I treat my body like I'm suopposed to, (eating healthy, drinking lots of water, taking a multi-vitamin, exercising, etc.) that my hair would be much more consistent in diameter.

I think I am so over growth aids! I was going to try the MT but I am like, "I don't need to be greedy." I'm at BSL now, which isn't my goal length but I mean it isn't like my hair is short or anything. I'll just let my hair get to WL or beyond when it does.

Thanks for the compliment La Criolla...I like your name too btw.

I agree it is best to be consistant with nutrition. I am not sure how that directly translates to the hair strand, it would be interesting to see if there are studies that support this theory :scratchch
