Jojoba Oil is da bomb!

I picked some up Friday cause my scalp was feeling a little dry. Needless to say my scalp loved it and so did my hair. It made my hair shiney without making it feel greasy. I wished I had tried this a long time ago. I can't wait to use this after I do a wet set. Has anyone used this as a hot oil treatment? I'm thinking about making a new pomade using this. Okay, I'm done now. /images/graemlins/weird.gif

That's wonderful Sweetcocoa! /images/graemlins/smile.gif I like the fact that it works with your hair's own natural sebum and doesn't cause build up or the feeling that your scalp is clogged, not to mention the moisturizing properties it has.

Hi Sweeetcocoa,

I'm thrilled the Jojoba oil worked out so well for you. And if it made your hair shinier than it already was, well that's excellent! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sweetcocoa,

I am utterly shocked /images/graemlins/shocked.gif I say that because I am so surprised that you have not tried this sooner. From what I read here and elsewhere, jojoba is not for everyone like a lot of things, but you know I love the stuff and always give it raves /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Two more things: If it gets to the point where you are using a lot, definitely consider buying by the gallon. That's what I do and if you use on your skin like after a shower, you would be surprised how fast it can go /images/graemlins/lick.gif

Yes, I've used jojoba in many hot oil treatments /images/graemlins/wink.gif One great mix in the winter is to use some jojoba with a nice plop of shea butter /images/graemlins/drunk.gif

If you are ever in the mood, try using a jojoba/liquid aloe combo as a leave-in. I really like doing this in the summer /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I will be anxiously awaiting your Jojoba Pomade /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Sweetcocoa/images/graemlins/wave.gif

I'm glad you love it /images/graemlins/grin.gif I use it in my henna batches along with other essentials and carriers. The oil alone leaves hair soft and moisturized without that greazy, weezy effect /images/graemlins/laugh.gif As far as a hotoil treatment, I add this to my Hellman's mayonaisse(girl, as far as conditioning, nothing beats it!), use a heating cap for 45min-1 hour and I'm on cloud 9 /images/graemlins/wink.gif The two brands I have tried are the Jason's and the Dessert Essence /images/graemlins/smile.gif I purchased both from the vitaminshoppe. What I also love about it is that it doesn't sit heavy on the scalp as you've said. Sounds like you've discovered a newfound friend /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Talk to you soon...

I use jojoba oil as a part of my hot oil mixture. I also use it on my body and my face (doesn't clog pores). Definitely an all purpose oil. I love it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, I like Jojoba.. But I did something dumb though, I ordered some Organic Jojoba and then I mixed it with Tea Tree (I think too much). Well needless to say Tea Tree is drying /images/graemlins/mad.gif

And I only have like tweeny weeny bit of the pure jojoba left. Oh well /images/graemlins/crazy.gif my fault. Now I have to shell out some more money for another bottle.

But I do like it , it does'nt stay on my scalp it's gone in 1/2 hour .

Hey sweet cocoa
Im glad you like the jojoba oil, I have been using it for the past few months, I like it cause it is so light, it almost feels like you didn't put any on your hair, but it is there.

I agree 100% Sweetcocoa. I actually make a little hair milk type product of my own with Jojoba in it - because I like it so much.

Here's the recipe...

.5 oz. silicone based serum
.5 oz. Olive Oil
1 oz. Jojoba Oil
1 oz. watery leave in (I used Motions)
1.5 ozs. water based cream moisturizer

yields 4.5 ozs. of Tracy's Hair Milk! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I use it on my ends after a rollerset and wrap to moisturize and smooth my ends. It keeps them really moist and sealed.
I like this mixture because it gives my ends oil, silicone and moisture all at the same time and it uses the ingredients my hair responds to best. If it separates a little I just shake the bottle before applying.

Jojoja oil is absolutely wonderful. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I love how shining it makes my hair. Plus, it helps to keep my ends moisturized. I am just like you, I wish had discovered it before November. It's a definite keeper!

I mix it with essential oils for my hot oil treatment like some other folks have mentioned in the previous replies.

Yeah I have used it off and on for years. When my hair was relaxed it didn't feel like it was getting mositurized/softened with this oil. But now that I'm natural my hair feels great even with a light oil like this. I have it in my proven mixture (I didn't use grapeseed oil, the only oil I was jojoba oil).
Jade, where can I buy a bigger bottle? The only sizes I have seen here are 4oz. I noticed it has also been helping me stretch out my washes. I can go 1-2 weeks longer now and my saclp has hardly any buildup or gunk and looks clean. Now that's some oil /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know what Jade is using now, bu tthis is the jojoba oil she referred me to when i was looking to purchase.

I ran out very quickly but I look forward to repurchasing again. The next time I order from there I hope to order some rosehip seed oil as well to mix with my jojoba oil.

I was also thinking of ordering some of their Wild Rose oil for my face and I was thinking of using one of their face creams for the ends of my hair becasue the ingredients sound so yummy!!! I haven't decide though especially with every one raving about the Elasta Mango Butter.

Tracy your hair milk sounds interesting. Can you give an example of a water based cream moisturizer that you've used in the past?

Thanks.

I have Crysdon and I really loved it. The coconut oil helped me stretch out the jojoba oil a little and it smelled so great!!! At the time, those two were my favorite oils and I just couldn't decide which one I liked better.

I've even macerated rosemary in the coconut oil and mixed it with the jojoba oil.

Your recipe sound great! What water based moisturizer do you use? This sounds good for when I wrap my hair at night.

Sweetcocoa,

I didn't have the sweet almond oil to put in the recipe for your hair balm so I substituted jojoba and it is a great recipe!!! In fact, today I washed my sister's hair and put some on her hair before I put her under the dryer and her hair looks fabulous! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rosemary coconut and jojoba...sounds like a good blend. I have all these... /images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif

Do you mean that you have rosemary oil or rosemary herbs because I meant the herbs. I put the rosemary in a jar and poured coconut oil over it. Then I let it steep for a few weeks. I wish I had added rosemary oil to it though.

Sweetcocoa.
Yes, Jojoba is good stuff!
Girl, bring on the pomade. I can't wait. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sweetcocoa,

I'm also surprised that you haven't tried jojoba! And you are the Queen of Pomades! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Truly shocking! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes, jojoba is magnifico!!! It is a very light oil, but very moisturizing. It is expensive so I don't really use it alone for hot oil treatments, but always add some in to other oils or my conditioner.

It is also great to put on your hair while wet before rollersetting.

I was just going to say the same thing! I only put a little after I apply the setting lotion b/c too much will leave my hair greasy and take much longer to dry.

It also has totally transformed the ends of my hair!!

It is also great for taming and smoothing out the frizzies.

And don't feel bad for waiting so long Sweetcocoa...Jade mentioned Jojoba to me years ago over at BHSGO and I didn't get around to trying it until a year ago.

But better late than never!!!

i pour a lil bit in my hand cream, very very moisturizing!

Great idea. I have some hand lotion that is nice smelling, but not moisturizing enough for me. I don't use it alot because of this. Thanks for the tip!

you are welcome! that what we are here for.IMHO they put too much alcohol in hand creams to get us to use a lot of it and hence buy more that it dries out the skin. i get my friedn to make me an alcohol free one with essential oils and put in my jojoba for extra moist. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Jojoba oil is a great moisturizer for my hair. I also use it to take off my make up. It makes my skin feel soft. I like it more than Olive Oil. Sometimes Olive Oil makes my hair feel heavy and greasy.
