Japanese young people have no interest in relationships

The population is plummeting but they can't get folks to reproduce!

A third of young Japanese men say they have no interest in sex! That's just highly unusual.

And they seem to be saying one reason is because the women are getting stronger but the men are more passive.

Think that would ever happen here?

Very Interesting... I don't think that could ever happen here because North America is too much of a melting pot of cultures... While one culture of man ... say the japanese here, decides they don't want to mate, or form relationships for whatever reason... there's always another culture that will GLADLY scoop their women up...

They did a thing about this on Vanguards. They showed how the women pay to go out with these "party boys".

Basically, these women spend thousands of dollars a night on the really androgynous men just to be in their company. It was really strange. Especially since you couldn't tell who was a man or a woman at the table

so interesting. i also just read this article about hikikimori and how its really crippling a significant percentage of young males in Japanese.

It basically this thing where a young person pretty much just holes themselves up in their rooms and won't leave for extended periods of time.... sometimes up to 15 yrs at a time.

Really bizarre!

should I kick off the conspiracy thoughts

YES!

I'm going with lingering effects of WWII radiation and/or other food supply contamination has effected the hormonal balance of women and men (particularly men) making them more androgynous and less interested in sex.

The current state of workforce (more women receiving higher education then men) causes women to become more masculine (getting things done, achieving goals), so, due to the law of polarity, it causes men to become more feminine. It's happening all over the world

I wish they would have touched on the scenes at the end of the video. Seems like men are engaging in more play-like activities, and women are being increasingly modernized.
I wonder if they're looking a closer look at their media. Watching Anime seems immensely far from reality. Is there enough Japanese drama and entertainment centered on real human relationships? I don't know, but that would be very interesting to find out.
My exposure to Japan is very limited, but I have gotten the inkling that they are very much into game culture. Japanese pranks are HILARIOUS! If women aren't doing those things anymore, then maybe there are fewer points of connection for the sexes.

Anyway, very interesting.

Umm, it's not like American young people are that interested in relationships but whatever, I'll bite.:ohwell: Anyways, the way I understand the Japanese demographic crisis is that Japanese women are largely expected to stay home once they get married and have kids. So many women are forgoing marriage/kids for their careers. I guess in response Japanese men are giving up on relationships.:perplexed The country's going to have to clean this up.:nono:

i didn't read the article. are they not interested in relationships or not interested in sex? those are different things.

japan is just going to die out...

I remember reading about Japan's herbivore men (men who aren't interested sex/like taking walks/living simple lives.) And about how married couples don't have much sex either.
After reading this anecdotal article a couple weeks ago I can kinda understand why...

And I don't blame the women in Japan, they seem to be getting more awesome and the men not so much. :nono: I totally understand the guy that said a relationship is too much work though.

In this vid the guy said his gf just has less interest then him... though i don't know if they're normal. http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/65345468.html

The key phrase is married couples don't have much sex either. That means with each other. What J-people tell me about affairs there... :nono: It's almost like it's expected.

I think the reason is just apathy about everything in general. A lot of Japanese people call young people, especially Heisei kids (1989 and up) spoiled, apathetic, and generally bored with life. The economy has been bad for years, having children is incredibly expensive, and people just can't be bothered. Parents support kids forever sometimes too (see: Parasite singles).

I think the bolded sounds a lot like what's happening in America. Is this our future? Most of my professional friends are not interested in having children, and those who are only want one. From my own experience, it's incredibly expensive and a huge burden. I can't say that my friends aren't interested in sex and relationships, they just don't want children.

Thats most professional young people I know as well. We are all really struggling and most of us live with our parents if we're not married. Where does a child come into play? A whole other person is so much work especially when you don't have yourself together. It sucks I thought I would have 2 by now :ohwell:

American young people fill both ends of the specturm, I see them playing married, they say they are married and utilize the whole marital terminology, i've seen this starting in middle school. on the other hand I've seen young girls and boys change partners like they change clothes, saying love is for suckers. All of these behaviors are disturbing.
