and now I'm back to the boring bun :(.

Instant Weaves (bad for hairline)
Braids (I look like I am 12 yrs old)
Phony Pony (tension)
Rollersets (prefected thanks to ANKY --- THANKS ANKY!!! --- but my hair isn't long enough and doesn't "hang" right. Plus I look like a UFO landed on my head after day 1.5.)
Flexirods (favorite but they take too long to put in = hassle when you wash 2x per week)

I pulled my hair back with a satin scrunchie, wrapped some material around it to make it look decent and I am at work hoping it doesn't fall off and disgrace my family name. **envisioning next years comparison shots** :ohwell:

I am simple when it comes to my hairstyles. I don't like a lot of fuss, which is good because I don't have a clue how to do real hair. I don't want to go to the salon (fear of SHS and lack of funds). I am TIRED of spending money on fake hair, products, hair accessories, styling tools, combs, vitamins, extension cords for my laptop so I can log on to LHCF from EVERY ROOM of my house . . .:whyme:

I JUST WANT MY HAIR TO GROW PAST MY SHOULDERS SO I CAN DO SILVERGIRL'S SCARF TECHNIQUE AND JUST LET IT HANG THERE LOOKING SIMPLE AND PRETTY. Is that too much to ask? :cry3:

Be encouraged! I've been wearing the boring bun since August 2004 (I'm my own bun challenge). I've only worn my hair out a couple times since then. It may be boring but its helping me maintain length. You'll thank yourself when you are closer to your hair goals.:)

yeah when i decided to baggie, i bought buns and phony ponies and scrunchies and all of a sudden, i decided to go natural. an dnow i have all these things lying around.......dont give up!

Chelle,

You, and I are in the same boat. I am so tired of the damn bun. But it is hot so it will do. Keep it up, and before you know it the length will be there.

Chellee, I feel you! Buns are boring as all get-out, but your hair will thank you in the long run. Don't give up! :)

thanks for posting this thread. I'm doing my own "unofficial" bun challenge and needed the encouragement. Don't worry Chellee, you are not alone. I feel the exact same way you do. I'm just praying that my fragile hair does not suffer from the constant bunning.

I just jumped on the protective bun bandwagon (say that three times fast)

I like them okayyyy but I like to vary the style by wearing 2-4 mini buns (all in the back). It's kinda fun! :D I guess bantu knots might be protective if you don't take them down? I messed around and wore mine to a drs. appointment and I got alot of compliments.... lots of strange people wanting to put their hands in my grass. :(
