Hi EbonyPerez.

I think the ladies have said some things here that will help you on your way.

But I would also like to challenge you that for the next month when you look at your hair, handle your hair, or think about you hair you will have to say or think some positive things that are taking place right now with your beautiful mane.

I am mentoring some young ladies right now who all have very tiny afros and are scared to death they won't even come close to what you have.

I would suggest that maybe you might consider helping a newbie to the natural journey. You may even have a few people comment on your fotki that are newbies and just tell them that you would like to help them, have them ask you questions about how you have gotten to where you are now.

Another suggestion would be to go back and look at your fotki and maybe change some of the negative comments you have made or adjust them where it does not come across as negative.

As you can see from the comments you are getting there are a lot of women from this thread who would love to have your problem. Sometimes we can be so close to a situation or perceived problem that it really may not be as bad as we think.

Hope this comes across as helpful and not hateful. You are a beautiful woman with a lovely mane of hair and I think it would be wonderful for all the newbies to not only see it but hear it from you.

Be proud, thankful and feel blessed with what you have even though it may not be what you truly want.

Ebony--please try to think more positively. I remember telling you months ago how beautiful your hair was and you were like it just "looks" like that etc. First, take stock of what you have right now, beautiful, lush, natural hair. So you have some things you need to work on. If I'd given up at the one year mark, man my hair would really be jacked. I bc'd in Jan '05, relaxed in August '05, and bc'd again in March '06. I've been on here for more than two years and I still have quite a way to go. But I'm not giving up. I am making progress and I'm not leaving LHCF until I reach my goals and then I won't really leave but I'll be able to chill and be able to provide support to others.

Is the shorter hair a different texture than the rest of your hair? I have three distinctly different textures on my head, the crown is 3c/4a coily, grows fast, is easy to manage and holds moisture well, the nape is very dry and tightly coiled and more fine/thinner than most of my hair and grows slower than the rest of my hair (and it's fragile) the rest of my head is a mixture of 4a/4b. Also, why don't you go ahead and get some other products other than the stuff your mom buys? Girl make a plan and stick around at least for another year;).

Awwww heeeeelllllll nawwwww!!! WTH is up with you!! You are one of my hair idols. How dare you?!!!!!!!!!!! sorry i had to use that tone but you deserved it for that moment:look:

But really, you need to get out of this hair depression that you're in because I look forward to the day when my hair can look like your siggy. I stalk your album ALL of the time!!!!!!! Maybe I need to leave more comments for you! Like everyone else said get a regimen! Find out what works for your hair. Shoot gets some braids or a weave until you can figure it out! Shoot if I were your hair I wouldn't grow either if you kept puttin me down!!!!! :look: ...:lachen: j/k
Girl you'll be at BSL and beyond in no time!!!!! I can't wait to see your hair next year!!!! Then we'll dig up this thread and laugh!;)
HHG:)

Ebony... your hair is beautiful in your avatar and in your siggy.. in fact it looks thicker and longer than mine.. so not sure why you are disappointed in your hair:( Tell yourself that the hair God gave you is beautiful and there are alot of people that wish they were in your shoes! Not trying to be preachy or fuss at you... I just think your hair is so gorgeous**wish I had it** ;)

I don't get it, your hair is beautiful... your hair is better than most of us... I hope you have gotten over what made you feel that way. .. Trust me your hair is GORGEOUS:eek:

My sentiments exactly! LOL :lol::lol:

Funny you should write this message because earlier today I was responding a thread, and I noticed the pic in your siggy and I felt compelled to compliment your siggy in my response.

I do know how frustrating it can be when you are not meeting the goals we set for ourselves. I am currently in the same boat as you. This healthy hair journey is a test of patience. Looking at your pics, your hair is thick and healthy...so, you have those two positives on your side. Even though we are all product junkies, sometimes that can be a detriment because you do not give yourself enough time to pinpoint what is and isn't working. Or sometimes your hair can go thru product overload.

Reasses your regimen and products. Stick to some reliable moisture-based products and in between protein treatments. I know you will get thru this setback. Girl, pretty soon you will be walking down the street, with bouncing long hair, doing the white-girl hair flip! :lachen: just kidding...you have "nubian glory" (scene comes to mind: "You are my Queen to be!!!!" -Coming to America)....lol lol

Oh Ebony!!

Girl, you need a plan, and right now, it seems like you don't have one! You're kind of just using stuff to use stuff, so maybe if you have a regime and you stick with it for a while, things will improve.

If you look at some of the albums on this board, for example Babygurl, or Sistaslick, just to name two, it took them about 3 years to get where they are now, and they really started above shoulder length. But they found what worked, and they stuck with it, and low and behold, 3 years later they have beautiful heads of hair.

Also, you're not going to become a flat iron perfectionist on the first couple of tries. Stick with the maxiglide for a while, and practice! I'm actually planning on buying one this summer, so I can stop getting my hair pressed with a hot comb. So, give it a couple of more tries, you can only get better!

Spring is the perfect time to get started with a new regime, because it will warm up, and hair always grow better when the weather is warm!

So.....think about it!

EbonyPerez, isn't this wonderful! You say I'm tired of my hair and I'm giving up and these ladies come rushing in and encourage you by telling you the truth about how beautiful your hair is. Where else could you find this? I love you ladies.

Both of those are too heavy for my hair but if they work for you then go for it, but if you find they are too heavy try something else, just don't give up. Right now what works for me is s-curl and some type of oil but everybody is differerent. I'm glad you're coming around, we all have to stick together, you'll get to bsl, you just have to be a little more patient with yourself and your hair:).
