I've realised that stretching isn't right for me.

Last time I had a relaxer was at the beginning of June. I wanted to stretch until mid September but I dont think that is going to happen :/

I know it doesn't sound like a long time, but I've been taking Nioxin so my hair has been growing much fast than normal. Right now I have about 2 and a half inches of new growth, and hair is breaking REALLY badly.
I washed my hair yesterday and omg hair was falling everywhere
detangling was a nightmare
it was horrible!!
and because there is so much new growth I have no idea what to do with it other than put it up in a bun
and I want to go out clubbing tomorrow and I have no idea what to do with it! i mean, I can't go out clubbing in a bun?
I'm trying a twist out but I have a feeling that it's just not going to turn out right.
I would give in to flat ironing my roots, but I dont even know where my flat iron is (I think I hid it from myself xD)

I'm going to relax my hair next week/wash day

how can I style my hair to go out???

I've tried stretching more than once and each time I shed more than normal. I can't go over 8 weeks for some reason. I've given up on stretching..

Can you just heat straighten the NG? 2.5 inches is a lot if you ask me. It serves the purpose of the stretch, which is to avoid overlap, yes?

I had a bad experience trying to stretch, so I don't any more. I got sick of the breakage that resulted.

I did about 12 weeks, I had more than enough newgrowth so no overlapping. Infact I think this is the first time in my life I'm sure there was no overlapping. I thought about stretching to 16 weeks BUT I saw my ends were looking thinner and I had a little bit of breakage so I relaxed and I'm glad I did.

Do what's best for your hair.

I came to realize stretching may not be for me. Unfortunately, this was after the breakage had already occurred and I had several patches of breakage at the line of demarcation. If you don't notice the breakage I would suggest that you continue on with the stretch. Do you have any wigs or half wigs you can wear for those going out events? If not, you could also try a dominican blowout and maybe have them blowout the roots for the super straight look

I just hit twelve weeks and it's about that time for me as well. I've stretched up to six months and never saw any noticeable increase in the health of my hair; it's just harder to style with more breakage.

You can do a braidout or wear buns until you relax again.

I think buns or cute updo's are SEXY and different when out clubbing. You could do coily curls from your temple and in the back or nape area for drama. Add a jeweled looking pin or two for sparkle....

If you rock a sexy outfit, get your makeup on point and wear a nice updo (even a braidout updo), you'd be slammin I bet.

I'm going to try this! Thank you!!

Thankfully, I dont see any patches where there is only NG. But when I detangle/comb/brush/even lightly touch my hair, long strands of hair come out.
And I know this isn't shed hair, it's hair from the demarcation line.
Everything was fine until yesterday tbh

I think I'm going to try the bun updo
or just use my friend's curling iron and do curls all over or something

@mikimix

unless people are under the supervision of a good hairstylist i would never recommend going past 12-14wks some folks hair just can't handle it and they don't find out till its too late. i was lucky enough that when i was relaxed that i could go 4-5 months with no issues but there are exceptions to every rule. no more bandwagons, girlie!!!!! try roller setting and then flat ironing. or just do a wet bun.:yep:

10-12 weeks is my max. Stretching used to be so hard, but I've found products that really moisturize my hair and make it more manageable.

Argan Oil
Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo
Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner
Pre-Pooing with Wheat Germ Oil and conditioner have all been a godsend.
