It\'s touch up time again. just got back.

and I just got back from the stylist. she used a different relaxer this time cause she looked at my hair and decided the other one didnt take like she wanted it to. Revlon something (you know how they try to hide what they're using!) she also smoothed it a little more with her fingers and the comb in some areas but still did the baggie and I can still feel a slight wave at the roots. absolutely no burning!! she barely touched my scalp the whole process and what little she did she had me based well enough that I didnt burn. I was kind of worried for a minute cuase she shampooed with the neutralizer 4 times!! I tried to see into the sink to see if I had tons of hair come out but she had such a grip on my hair in the towel leading me to the other chair I couldnt turn my head. she sat me under the dryer for a few minutes to get a jump on drying my roots then blow dried me very gently. she did flat iron me again but I figured I only see her every 12wks so ok. she told me that my hair had really grown since she last saw me and was just amazed. her words "wait until I tell Mary this! Your hair is way longer than hers!" Mary being my mom. I was thinking please dont make a big deal cause then I will have to deal with her cattiness! (p.s. my mom suddenly decided to get braids!) anyway, I did acheive some growth but I think my ends are way too thin and I'm wondering if the shedding I experienced had anything to do with it. I have no split ends and surprisingly, Donna, my stylist, did not even mention a trim, just asked me if I were going to keep growing it to which I said yes. my hair is really thin and flat right now and I'm wondering if I should reserve judgement on a trim until my first wash when I get some thickness back because looking at my ends right now is kinda depressing. they seem really thin and gappy to me when I try to take pictures of the back length. someone please tell me its the camera and that it adds inches between hairs! I'd be so happy if it were all one uniform length but its not. do ya'll think I should wait until I acheive bra strap at least before trying to even it up or should I do so now? at this rate I might get to bra strap by March o4 if I dont cut. what do ya'll think? I will take more pics after my first wash when it has some life and evaluate my ends then unless ya'll think I should trim now. I have no split ends so I'm on the fence.
I did download 2 new pics so check them out. on the side view one I had already moisturized and braided up my hair for the night when I decided to take it down for pics so its kinda wavy, frizzy, wet. tell me what you think please.
for those who frequent bhcab you'll notice the double post so forgive but didnt relish retyping all that.
also I should ask, exactly how long do I have to wait to wash my hair. I want to do it asap cause this "new perm" smell and feel is driving me bonkers! can I get away with just doing a cond wash and deep protien cond right now if its not a good idea to shampoo immediately?

Godzooki, your hair is FIERCE in that falt ironed pic!! It grew SO much!!! Maybe Ill try to stretch my touch ups to 10 weeks...8 is the longest Ive gone.

I think a condit wash is best since she shampooed the &^%$%^& out of your hair!! Its pretty clean so maybe return moisture...id wait a week for the protein....

The hairstylist said you got really good growth and had no split ends?

Congratulations! Personally, I would wait on the trim.

Hey just saying congrats cuz i kno tha feeling when the stylist tells u that no trim is necessary!! Oh n if itz ne help i think she may have tried using fabulaxer, but thatz really tha only revlon relaxer for our hair that i know of......

Godzooki, congrats on the growth. We all usually get that lifeless feeling straight after a touchup ( I must be one of the few that doesn't mind this) but I'd say hold out on the trim. Your hair is just growing at different rates hence the uneveness it sounds and looks healthy, hence no splits, put it in that bun girl so you can see or stress over it and let it do it's thing. Even if you even it up it will still grow uneven and it didn't look that bad to me anyway.

Way to go Godzooki!! I'm happy for you. Also, be glad that you have such a caring stylist who takes special care when touching up and that lets you determine if you need a trim.

I think that as long as your ends are healthy, you should leave them alone. I shampoo about 3 days after the relaxer with a moisturizing shampoo, because like you, I don't like the smell of the relaxer that remains in the hair. Your hairstylist might have used Revlon Realistic. I have a friend that uses that one. Keep up the good work!!!

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you have no split ends, then there is no need to trim. The only other reason would be for aesthetics, and honestly, I don't think it looks like you need to cut your hair. Just let it keep on growing like it is doing.

If you haven't been doing anything to your ends that would damage them and it's not old damage (prior to you starting a healthy-hair regimen) and you wear protective styles most of the time--then maybe wait on your trim. If it is just eating you alive, then no more than 1/4 inch all around and NO it doesn't have to be even.

Keep up the good work

Congrats, keep up the good work!

As for shampooing 4x, I don't think that's uncommon especially when washing out a relaxer. I think that the stylist was trying to be careful to get all of it out. For myself, I prefer no less than 3 washes!

Re: It\'s touch up time again. just got back.

Looking real good!! Don't trim your ends. I agree youshould wait.

Re: It\'s touch up time again. just got back.

Girl, I agree about not cutting it. It looks healthy and it's growing!

I thank you all for your comments and encouragement. they really help alot. I wont trim my ends until my next touch up definately. hopefully by then it might even up somewhat. I'm gonna keep it braided or bunned up like you all suggested and try to ignore it. thanks guys.
