It's Only Been 1 Month, BUT STILL!

Ladies who BC, did you guys notice significant growth after the first month, or was it unnoticeable. I know that a person's hair can grow .5 - 1.0 inch in a month, but I feel as though my hair grew NONE.

I'm going to keep my eye on this because this is the first time I have ever been natural. I don't want to be unknowingly damaging my hair, while thinking and telling myself, IT'LL GROW!

Sometimes I wonder if I should not touch my hair as much as I do. I conditioner wash it a lot, I do the things I think I'm suppose to do, but I'm scared that come March and April when its been 3 to 4 months since my BC that my hair will be the same length. Maybe its breakage but I haven't seen SIGNIFICANT breakage like since I was relaxed, but I do see breakage. Its not a lot, its almost in the normal range, but maybe breakage isnt normal.

Also, I am trying to keep my hair in its natural state and flat iron LESS, but when I was relaxed and I used my flat iron frequently my hair still grew. So maybe its growing and its the shrinkage??

LOL I'm not gonna give up, I don't plan to do that, I'm just a bit sad today.:nono:

Trust me, your hair is growing. I don't think you can really notice any difference after one month, especially in it's natural state simply because of the shrinkage.

Give it a few months still and enjoy your hair.

Mine grew like crazy. It's been 11 weeks and it grew 1.5" I measured today.

Check out my pics here.
It seems like the hair truly blossoms after the BC. While I was transitioning it didn't budge much.
I would advise you to do twist outs, that is doing wonders for my hair. Twist it up in 15-20 twists at night and unravel and fluff it up in the morning. That way your hair is not fully shrunken and you don't have to keep on flat ironing. Using heat might nor prevent you from keeping your length, but the damage might ruin your curl pattern if you're not careful.

Don't worry though, your hair is definitely growing, nurture and care for it and you'll see the difference in no time :yep:

I was having these same worries, until I realized how tightly my hair coils. Shrunken, my hair looks like it's only grown a millimeter or two since I chopped (yet you can see density). I blowdried it and saw a HUGE difference. It actually grew fast than I thought it would. (sorry about the sizes resizing is not my friend tonight)

This is the chop

Don't worry. As long as you aren't combing too roughly and losing a ton of hair when detangling, you will be fine. By spring you are going to be like:blush:, I bc'd twice and by the time I reached 4 months post bc, I had a nice little fro, and you will too, especially if you keep it moist, conditioned and in twists or braids.

Yeah right now I have twists in. I have been keeping my hair in its natural state for fear of damage. I'm the Flat Iron Queen, BUT NOT ANYMORE LMAO. But when I was transitioning my hair grew 3 to 3.5 inches from July to December, that's 6 months so maybe I should use that as a gauge. And I just assumed it would grow more now that I'm natural and not flat ironing. When I was transitioning I kept my hair straight those 6 months......

But it is probably the shrinkage. I'm excited about March, then May, then December again since that's when I BC'd. Time will fly because I've started back at school, and once this work picks up I won't be obsessing with hair growth. lol

My first month, I didn't have enough hair to flat twist all over. After my first month, I did. My natural hair is growing fast. This is very encouraging for me.:yep: I'm at 2 months post.

I'm still a bit bummed. I am really scared that I am not going to get any hair growth. I don't know why I'm freaking out about this. Maybe I should just stop worrying about it or checking and it'll grow.

My hair grew NO MATTER WHAT when I was relaxed, so I'm assuming the same for Natural. PLUS I'm taking better care of it now. Maybe all this obsessing over hair isn't doing my hair any justice?

I'm having the same concern. I BC'ed ~6wks ago and I know that I probably shouldn't expect much but I really don't see anything. My hair was almost BSL and now I'm down to about 5 inches. :perplexed

Like you, I'm doing what I'm suppose to do...co-washing, deep conditioning, no heat, moisturizing and sealing. All that worked when I was relaxed, but now I'm not sure if I'm getting the same results. It even seems like I'm shedding more now. I'm not sure though b/c the hair is curly now, and I don't know what's "too much". *sigh*

This is my first time being natural too, so maybe I just need to relax and see what I get in a couple of months. I'm thinking about getting kinky twists or something cause watching this pot just isn't getting it. :nono:
