Im TRANSITIONING! I've been going back and forth with myself for a long time now and I've finally made up my mind. I'm just going to use E'TAE products and a shampoo and condtioner, and also my supplements. I just wanted to let you know so I can have some support because I know its going to be tough.

Any suggestions appreciated:)

Congrats on your transitioin, i did it for a year after suffreing too much damage from wrongful texturizer applications by stylists, my hair grew out very healthy with braids/bun styles. i crossed over the relaxed hair though....i'm sure you will enjoy your journey back to 100% natural good luck. you can view my transitioning albums and my c and g method.

congratulations on your decision! be strong! transitioning takes a lot of patience and perseverance!

take care!

What made you finally decide to transition?

It was something I always wanted to do, but I was just to scared. My main reason for being scared was because I am an aspiring broadcast journalist and I will be going into the work force in about a year and I didnt want it to cause any conflict with me finding a job, but thanks to you ladies on LHCF I realized I can wear my natural hair straight when working and it in natural style when I'm not. Best of Both Worlds!:)

Thanks for all your support ladies. The journey begins

Congrats to you and good luck with your transition. But for the record, natural hair (in it's natural state and unstraightened) can be VERY professional too! You just have to learn how to style it.

Also you can buy some fabulous wigs when you don't want to deal with your hair at all:)

I am clapping my hands for you on the Etae product choice
good luck with your transition and congrats

Good luck with your transition. I agree with Super_hero_girl--your hair can be professional and beautiful whether straight or highly textured. :)

Prissy girl, have you used the E'TAE products before? My friend uses them and I love the way her hair looks. I've had my eye on them for a while, and I think I may finally order me some stuff come next paycheck! =) I just started transitioning as well, so good luck!!!

Congrats and best of luck! I agree with these ladies, natural hair can be professional and it's a breath of fresh air these days seeing an increased presence of textured styles in the media :)

Exactly how does your friend use the products (like in what order after washing)? The website does not state the directions.

The reason I asked is because on the website in the FAQ somone posted the question:

Once I purchase the products, do I use them all in one day, like a system?

Answer:
No, the treatments are to be alternated, except for the hair gloss which you may use whenever necessary.

Before reading this I thought that the Carmel was like a deep condition, the Nutrient was a leave in, and the Water shine wold be used after blowdrying but before flat ironing. But know the owner is saying not to use them all at the same time and same day. And she aslo states in a previos anser to not use any other products besides shampoo. So...........I'm lost.

Maybe I can help you with your question I have her info from when I visited her shop

the first step that she recommends is the Carmel(deep reconstructing hair treatment)you apply it to dry hair in sections and let it sit for 30 min or more the longer the better )
ingredients:Honey,olive oil,bananas,molasses,cornstartch,water,vinegar,wheat germ oil

usage:this is used before you shampoo it softens adds shine improves texture moisturizes and creates body and shine
carmel is used to replace the lost moisture in your hair and improve its overall health (you can use this once a month)

After this you can shampoo and cond as usual

the second treatment can be applied in between the monthly Carmel treatments but not more than once weekly
it is called Nutrient(liquid herbal hair and scalp replenisher) normalizes hair and scalp leaves hair shiny, bouncy, manageable, and controls dandruff and scalp conditions to promote a healthy scalp
Ingredients: water,vinegar,olive oil(extracts of burdock,basil,rosemary,sage,oregano)

this is used after shampooing you apply it to the hair and let it sit for 5 min then rinse and cond as usual
for a scalp treatment you apply it to the scalp and sit under dryer for 15
min rinse then shampoo and cond

the last part of her treatment is the watershine (lightweight deep moisturizing hair gloss)
ingredients: olive oil, rice bran oil, avacado oil, shea butter vitamin e oil
you can use this under dryer for 30 min as a prepoo hot oil treatment or
apply it to your hair whenever necessary to keep your hair soft and shiny without being weighed down

the Carmel and the Nutrient will soften tight curls it loosens the tightness from the hair strand so that when heat is applied it will blowdry medium to straight the more you use these products and blowdry after the straighter the hair becomes if you want to retain a tight curl you don't need to blowdry after you use the products

No I havent used the products yet. I have heard such great things about them from my hair stylist at home and you ladies. After visiting their website that sealed the deal on decision to transistion. My biggest fear was that I had to cut off all my relaxed hair, but according to the website I don't. When I go back home in 2 weeks, Im going to visit her salon. I will be sure to let you ladies know how that goes.

My hair came out really nice and bouncy. They blow dry your hair and then flat iron it.The only product that they use during blow drying and flat ironing is the watershine hair gloss. They tell you that the products do not preserve hairstyles they only promote the health of your hair. You can always put something on it at home to hold your style. They did not cut my hair.there was one girl who worked there who had a short hair cut everyone else that worked there had hair that was past shoulder length.
they are not scissor happy but they do advise that you let them trim split ends

They recommended any shampoo that does not contain sulfates and a moisturizing cond that detangles well and does not have isoprol alcohol
When you call they say you can use Cream of Nature moisturizing shampoo(white bottle green writing yellow top) and
Allways Natural Moisturizing formula conditioner
they use this poo and cond at the shop as well as some shampoo bars that she makes that are only sold in the salon not on the website

My friend's hair looks so pretty after she goes to their salon...Next time I visit my boyfriend in Philly, I need to hit them up!

I definitely think I'll be ordering all three products from them...I'm so excited! =)

Oh, by the way, anyone know any natural hair product sites like Oyin? I was trying to get onto Asha's but it wasnt working.
