It\'s not fair

I cant do wraps, roller sets, braids or even cornrows. What is wrong with me? Do I have a defective gene?

Today I attempted to do 4 cornrows and I look like Cleo on crack (set it off). I know that my SO is going to be on the floor laughing when he sees me. I could never leave the house looking like this cos I might get pulled over by 'the Po Po'
If one more person tells me 'Guuuuurl its easy, just practice" I'm going to SCREAM.

My SO's sister goes into the bathroom with a bunch of weave and re-emerges an hour later wearing a beyond perfect ponytail complete with sister curls and finger waves !!!

It's just not fair

Anyone feel the same way?

I used to feel that way. But after practicing, I have a pretty good handle on things now. It takes time!

I believe like anything, working with hair skillfully and creatively is a gift. For me it's that simple. Not that such skill and creativity cannot be learned, but either one has it or one does not.

Hey, I didnt know for sure how to do rollersets either until I tried it myself. It was not perfect the first time but after a while, I got better. I try some of the styles mentioned on this forum like braidouts, etc. that I try to do and they still arent perfected. I just try to chose a style that works for me. Practice does make perfect!

girl, you are not alone. I remember when i couldnt wrap my hair (dry). I also remember when I couldnt do rollersets.
I learned to do both quickly b/c i realized that they werent as hard as they seemed.
You'll get better the more you practice.

Praticepracticepractice.
My first cornrows were sad and sorry as well, but they are better now (except that I still can't part straight in the back.)

Re: It\'s not fair

Thanks ladies I need more patience. The fact that I have enough hair for 2 people doesnt help either..my arms get tired.
I do think that some people have a natural talent for it though.

Re: It\'s not fair

your not alone. i can't do rollersets either. and i always have a behive of hair on the top that i can't do anything with when i wrap it.

Girl I feel you on this one. If it's a genetic defect, I have it too beacuse I can't seem to do anything right, other than flatiron. I can plat but that's about it.
