Cosigning with the above....when I was transitioning, I flat ironed once a month but I mostly wore braids and weaves

as far as your hair type, I agree with the first poster.

ad far as flat ironing, I know of a lot of people that regularly flat iron their hair while transitioning or during long stretches. I'd say just make sure you use a good heat protectant and pay close attention to how your hair reacts to it. Personally I'm 23 week post relaxer and I flat ironed my hair for x-mas and it was totally fine. But I'm trying not to flat iron TOO often...

If you flat iron your hair, you should be fine. I'm almost 6 months post and I flat ironed my hair the other day. Make sure the hair is clean, deep conditioned, use a heat protectant, etc. Take all of the popular precautions. If you're really worried that your hair will respond negatively to the heat, you can always test a small section of your hair. Or you can even rollerset. Mummysgirl is one member I can think of who would know about that. :yep:

Flatironing is a great way to see your progress. :yep:

Transitioning hair shrinks up so much, with the thick ng and the stringy ends, it's nice to see that your hair is still pretty and healthy. I've done it a good couple of times during my transition (5/6 times in 14 months?) and plan to do it a little more often.

As said before, make sure your hair is clean, conditioned, heat protected.. A good flatiron is also important and don't set the heat up too high. you should be just fine.

i tried flat iroing ... and the heat was on 25 i have a conair idk what type.
but it didnt even get it straight i guess ill have to take a trip to a hair salon.!
