it's 2011 anyone using a GIOVANNI PRODUCT as a staple?

I'm cowashing with smooth as silk just because I bought the huge bottle at TJ Maxx based on all the great reviews I read

It has lots of slip and makes my hair smooth, but I don't feel like it really conditions or has lasting moisture.

I'm also using triple tea treat shampoo. I don't love it, but shampoos really aren't a big deal to me since I use them so rarely

ok... LAST QUESTION I PROMISE!

GIOVANNI DIRECT LEAVE IN vs. SMOOTH AS SILK (used as a leave in )
anyone tried both and PREFER one or the other?

I have both but I prefer SAS. GDLI doesn't seem as moisturizing or penetrating. I'm using that up as a mix in my spritz but don't plan to repurchase. SAS on the other hand is my new illicit love. I use to be a Shea Moisture junkie but now Giovanni has stolen my heart.

Now if only I can find the liter size in stores because I'm not partial to buying products online. The only exception would be my henna. I suppose I may have to bite the bullet though.

Help: I need a moisturizing DC that is protein-free, cones-free, etc. Any recommendations??? I'm using MT/OCT and have been using Gio SAS as a DC until I realized it has soy protein towards the bottom of the ingredients list. So now, what should I use?

Incognitus

I use Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose as a moisturizing DC and their GPB as a light protein DC. It's hella thick though so I thin it out with my oil of choice. However it has Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera in it so I don't know if your hair would agree with them or not. If all else fails you can make your own DC such as using bananas, avocados, honey, coconut cream, or what have you. I'm always for the hunt for a cheap conefree moisturizing dc so if you find something that works feel free to let me know. I know curlmart has some DC's that fit your criteria but I personally prefer buying hair products in store.

i used to love giovanni 50:50 shampoo, but i heard other ppl say it was stripping or made their hair hard...i mostly used it diluted, and i prepoo'd before hand...but then i switched to the mixed silk shampoo and my hair feels so much better after the mixed silk than with the giovanni...and the mixed silk has sulfates even though they're mild...idk if that means my hair likes sulfate poo better than non-sulfate, or giovanni just wasn't that great...i bought the direct leave-in 2x but it was never really moisturizing to me & sometimes made my hair feel coated and dry...i mostly used it on my sister before blowdrying her hair, and i mixed the last remnants into a spritz of aloe vera juice and water and it worked fine, but i wouldn't repurchase.

Giovanni Leave In (just purchased a few more bottles)
Giovanni tea Tree Conditioner for cowashing (may purchase the gallon)
I love it

I currently use the Frizz be Gone Serum-love this.:yep:

I am trying to use up my Giovanni Direct-won't be repurchasing because I much prefer my Alba Botanica leave in.

I've tried most of their shampoos namely Smooth as Silk, Magnetic, Tea Tree and Golden Wheat. I did not like the Smooth as Silk shampoo or the Magnetic. The Tea Tree shampoo is decent but a little too tingly for my liking-left me almost freezing cold in the shower!
The Golden Wheat shampoo is rarely talked about but this in my opinion is the best of them all.it's supposed to be a clarifier but it left my hair very clean but soft and has a great, fresh fragrance. I've not used it in a while but I'm going to repurchase this one.

I'm not too keen on their conditioners for the most part. The magnetic one had a somewhat gritty texture in my hair and was not moisturising at all. I wasn't fond of the Smooth as Silk either:ohwell:. Their Nutrafix conditioner works very well as a light protein conditioner but I stopped using it because I found Aubrey's GPB to be superior for this purpose.

I used to use GDLi back when I first went natural, and I loved it until they changed the ingredients to where it became too thick. I've gone through 3 other liters of Giovanni products within the past 3 years (Tea Tree Shampoo, Tea Tree Conditioner as a co-wash, and SAS as a deep conditioner). They've never really let me down, honestly. I started to use SAS shampoo last year, but it has a cone in it so I don't use it anymore. Right now I have the 50:50 liter shampoo under my cabinet, ready to be used as my next shampoo when I run out of my TJ Nourish shampoo.

I just recently revisited the newer version of the GDLi to use as a leave-in for my braidout, and I must say that I'm impressed. Dare I say it leaves my hair more moisturized than my beloved KCKT. I usually thin my KCKT out with aloe vera juice, so I'm thinking that I will do the same for GDLi. I'm going to use the GDLi again today to make sure last time wasn't a fluke.

Does anyone know if the GDLi on massagewarehouse's site is the newer version? I saw someone on YouTube make a video about her purchase, and her liters looked like the older bottled version.

I love the Giovanni Leave-In Direct! I've been using it for nearly two years now and LOVE it. I recently bought a big bottle of the Smooth As Silk conditioner but haven't used it yet.
