I have been trying to figure out why my scalp was always so itchy right after I washed my hair.

I finally figured it out... It was my hair dryer!

I use the Gold N Hot hard table top dryer. I had been drying my hair on high. It's the heat from the dryer that's been irritating my scalp. I have it on medium now, and I can tell the HUGE difference!

I just read about this in Lisa Akbari's book. She talks about the underlying damage that's being done to the scalp i.e. drying it out under a hooded dryer. Using a lower heat setting is good, but be mindful of staying under the dryer longer than necessary. She mentioned that when we sit under the dryer for those additional 10-15 minutes (after already being under there an hour or so) to dry that 1 section that alwasys takes forever, we are actually overdrying the rest of our hair and scalp and itching was an indicator of this. She recommended oiling the scalp (not greasing) before and after if necessary.
